David-Horodoker, Jrs., Make Plans
For Annual Banquet November 29

Officers and committee members of the David-Horodoker,

Jrs., are arranging final plans for their 12th annual banquet,
to be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Fort Wayne Hotel. Rabbi

Isaac Stollman will speak, and entertainment will be by Bob
Hall and the Fenby-Carr orchestra.

Pioneer Women to Present Noted
Yiddish Poetess at Open Meeting

Members of the local Jewish
community will have an oppor-
tunity to hear an outstanding
Yiddish writer when Kadia
Maladowsky, Jewish author and
poetess, appears at a meeting
sponsored by the Pioner Worn-
en's Council at a:30 p.m. Mon-
day, Nov. 14, at Beth Shmuel
Synagogue, Dexter at Buena
Vista.
Miss Maladowsky was the first
woman to edit a Yiddish literary
magazine; she was recently
named editor of the Yiddish
section of Dvar Hapoelet, pub-
lication of the Council of Work-
ing Women in Israel. Miss Mala-
dowsky will return to Israel af-
ter completing her tour of the
United States for Pioneer Wom-
en.
In her talk here, she will dis-
cuss life in Isreal today and will
read selections from her own
works.

Jewish and Hebrew selections.

Dr. Harry August

Dr. Harry August, noted De-
troit psychiatrist, will address
members of the Detroit Section,
N a t i on al Council of Jewish
Women, their husbands and
friends, at an evening meeting,
planned by the Council Mental
committee of the organization at
8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at
the Jewish Community Center.
"Marital Problems" will be
considered by Dr. August in his
discussion, which will be follow-
ed by a question and answer
period Recently appointed to
the State Board of Mental Hy-
giene, Dr. August was sent to
Europe last year by the United
States Government to study
conditions in the occupied areas,
and will soon leave for Palestine.
The mental hygiene program,
which currently is running a
series of five lectures, is closely
linked with the planning of the
Wayne County Mental Hygiene
Committee, with which Council
is the first local women's organ-
ization to be affiliated. Mrs.
Louis Zlatkin is chairman, a.s=
sisted by Mrs. Major Seigel.

for its annual dinner dance,

Reading Circles announces the
first meeting of the season for

Lecturer Sergey Nutkiewicz

Yiddish dramatist and poet,
Leivick. A testimonial will be
given old officers and new of-
