Beth Lid _Reception Camp
Full of `Gescheft' Seekers

By PHILIP SI,OMOVITZ

' BETH LID CAMP, Israel—The big story about Israel_
is here—and at the St. Luke reception camp near Haifa, the
first clearing point for the newcomers.
The tens of thousands who have been arriving in Israel
are cleared at the latter camp. Many arrive with all their
possessions.

Rabbi Morris Adler, Lawrence
W. Crohn and Bernard Isaacs
joined forces on Tuesday to
form a committee to introduce
the new Encyclopedia Hebraica
to the Jews of Detroit.
At the committee's first meet-
ing, at the home of Dr. and Mrs.
Albert Bernstein, Rabbi Adler in-
troduced Moshe Weizman of Is-
rael, now touring the U. S. on
behalf of the Encyclopedia.
Weizrnan described the Encyclo-
pedia as consisting of 16 vol-
umes, one of which has already

been published. The second wiU
soon be ready for distribution.
The committee formed at the
meeting consists of: Rabbi Mor-
ris Adler, Bernard Isaacs, Rabbi
Leon Fram, Maurice Zackheim,
Louis LaMed, Bernard Milinsky,
Dr. A. W. Sanders, Sol Edelman,
Spencer S. Fishbaine and Dr. A.
E. Bernstein.
The committee expects to en-
large its membership to include
community leaders interested in
the sale of the publication. Their
object is to interest individuals
and organizations in purchasing
sets for themselves or for libra-
ries, here and in Israel.
