Texan's Gift Saves School

Nathan Klein, a Houston, Tex., businessman and civic leader,
has saved the Jefferson Military College with a gift of $5,000,
which will cover the outstanding debts that threatened the small
school's existence.
The school rejected a $50,000,000 "bribe" endowment offered
on the basis that it teach "white supremacy."
Armstrong, the ADL reports, has long been a peddler of hate.
His hate mongering has taken the form of published tracts, at-
tributing nearly all the world's ills to Zionism and Jews; his
espousal of Gerald L. K. Smith and other fascists through finan-
cial support, and his public utterances.
In 1945 Armstrong founded "The Judge Armstrong Founda-
tion" whose confessed purpose was to release a stream of hate
literature against Jews and Negroes. In a publication by the foun-
dation called "World Empire" dedicated "without permission to
"Honorable John E. Rankin," who recently submitted a bill to Con-
gress which would make membership in the ADL a Federal of-
fense, Armstrong attempts to lend credence to -Anti-Semitic libels
pilfefed from- the fallacious "Protocols of the Learned Elders of
Zion" with some additions from JuliuS Streicher's "Der Stuermer."
While direCting his wrath at Zionism and the New Deal,
Armstrong warmly embraced Hitler, Goering and his cohorts with
statements like "Hitler did not seek war; he sought the return
of the pre-war possessions of Germany by agreement; Goering
and his co-defendants at the Nurenberg trial,!' he stated, "were
tried because they were anti-Semitic and not because of anything
they did to bring about the war."
Armstrong urged the repeal of the sections of the 14th and
15th amendments to the Constitution to limit "the franchise to
the nation's white Americans."
In his anti-Semitic zeal, Armstrong levelled charges at Gen-
eral Eisenhower, General Mark Clark and President Truman
crediting them with Jewish ancestry or connection with Jews.
His philosophy of life with regard to Jews was contained in a
96-page booklet entitled "Zionist Wall Street" published a few
months ago.
In the final chapter of this rabidly anti-Semitic tract, Arm-
stron% recommended dissolution of the UN—calling it "a Zionist
scheme for World Empire"; a purge of the Atomic Energy Com-
mission—"its members," he said, are "internationalists and most
of them Jews," and enlargement of the powers of those on the
Congressional Un-American Activities Committee.
Iraqi Jews in Israel Make Plea
For Aid to Halt Pogroms in Iraq
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Several
thousand Iraqi Jews demon-
strated here on Oct. 27, carry-
ing banners calling upon Iraqi
Jews throughout Israel to spare
no efforts to rescue their "breth-
ren cruelly terrorized in Iraq,"
and urging the Israel govern-
ment to employ every means to
end the persecutions.
The demonstrators gathered in
front of the Knesset building
where their demands were heard
by Behor Shotreet, minister of
police and minorities.
In Jerusalem, a large number
of JeWs staged a similar demon-
stration and called on the gov-
ernment to take immediate steps
with the UN and the major
powers to bring an end to the
pogroms.

Observers here believe the lat-
est outbreak of offical persecu-
tion of Jews in Iraq is part of
a broader scheme aimed at the
liquidation of Iraqi Jewry and
preparation for the renewal of
hostilities against Israel, it was
learned here:
Israel authorities have been
aware for some time, it also was
ascertained, of a two-point pro-
gram drawn up by Iraq's Pre-
mie• Nuir es-Said following an
analysis of the reasons for the
Arabs' defeat in the Palestine
war.
The first point of the plan
calls for the liquidation of the
major part of the Iraqi com-
munity of 150,004 Jews. In ex-
plaining the purported revival
of anti-Jewish activities, Israel
observers believe the Iraqi pre-
mier is attempting to make the
Jews the scapegoat of internal
disaffection and economic crisis,
and to lay the foundation for

round" war against the new
