Completes Third Annual Donor Plans

Completing plans for the third annual donor luncheon of
the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans are, left to
right: MRS. MAE GINSBURG, Department president, and MRS.
BERNARD HOFFMAN and MRS. BIRDIE R'OSENBERG, donor
co-chairman and chairman, respectively. The annual event,
which will be held at Masonic Temple Nov. 15, will feature
Commander Joshua Goldberg, chief chaplain of the ThirM Naval
District, as speaker and a fashion show planned by Nat Greene.
Working as ticket chairmen of the 16 units affiliated with the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Department of Michigan are Sadie Mor-
rison, Arleen Rhodes, Lillian Fogel, Jeanne Polansky, Adele
Simms, Berte Lifton, Freda Goosin, Florence Leider, Corrine
Oppenheim, Gertrude Hertzberg, Esther Rothberger, Hilda
Grossbart, Josephine Prog, Esther Gaff, Marian Sherman and
Fan Hencken.

Mrs. Welt Steps Down as President
Of NCJW; New Yore Woman Elected

BALTIMORE, MD.—Mrs. Irv-
ing M. Engel of New York City
was installed as president of the
National Council of Jewish Wom-
en at the closing session of the
organization's six-day triennial
convention at the Lord Balti-
more Hotel.
The 11th woman to head the
56-year-old organization, Mrs.
Engel was invested in office by
Mrs. Joseph M. Welt of Detroit,

bath Observance has prepared
a Sabbath brochure which is
available to women's organiza-
tions. and individuals.
Arranged by Mrs. Joshua
Sperka, the brochure gives the
schedule for candle lighting
time, blessing for candle light-
ing for the Sabbath and holy-
d a y s in transliteration and
English translation as well as
a personal prayer for individ-
uals, and suggests a program for
the Sabbath day to make it
mean more to the Jewish
mother and child.
