first Morris Morgenstern Award
for her "contributions to fur-

presented to him by Judge Mor-
ris E. Spector of the Bronx, din-
ner chairman, in recognition "of
his outstanding services to Is-
rael and the cause of world

Appointment of DR. LEO
SROLE of New York, former
division director in the Bureau
of Applied Social Research of
Columbia University, as director
of research for the Anti-Defama-
tion League of Bnai Brith was
announced by Benjamin R. Ep-
stein, ADL national director. In
his new capacity Dr. Srole will
direct the activities of a special
department that will initiate
basic research into the causes of
prejudice, discrimination and
similar minority group problems
and will conduct tests for scien-
tific evaluation of ADL's varied
programmatic techniques and
materials. He will also serve as
a member of the ADL commit-
tee which annually selects re-
cipients of Sigmund Livingston
fellowships, grants made to
social scientists engaged in ••hu-
man relations research.

Israel Cabinet Approves
$14,000,000 Loan

TEL AVIV (JTA)—The Israel
Cabinet has approved a proposal
by Foreign Minister Moshe Shar-
ett for raising a new national
loan of $14,000,000. The cabinet
also voted to implement sug-
gestions made by the finance
committee of the Knesset for
aiding the Jewish - Agency.

campaign to expand and inten-

WASHINGTON (JTA) — T h e
board of directors of the Export-
Import Bank announced a credit
of $20,000,000 to Israel for in-
dustrial development. This brings
to over $73,000,000 the amount
which.. has been allocated from
the original $100,000,000 loan.

Between 200 and 250 Israel
firms will participate in the
benefits. The firms will receive
credits to purchase U. S. ma-
chinery, textiles, food, process-
ing chemicals, pharmaceutical
products, work and building ma-
terials, glass and cotton weav-
ing machinery.
