Four claSses will convene at
8 p.m., Tuesdays for 20 weeks, di-
vided in two semesters. Subjects
will be: I. Hebrew I; Keeping
up with ybur • Child's Hebrew
Studies; 2. Hebrew II. Becoming
acquainted with :t h e Hebrew
langtage. 3. Highlights of the
Bible and 4. AdventUreS in Jew-
ish history.
At 9 p.m: Classes will merge
to hear- lecturers : on topics of

Schools P.T.A. was held at the
home of Mrs. Simon Lerman,
vice president, Oct. 27. A new
slate of offiders was nominated.

Adds to Teaching Staff
These children, aged four and five, were
blessed by Rabbi Leon Fram asrthey began their
career of Jewish education at Temple Israel
Religious School. The blessing was part of
the consecration ceremony at She mini
zeret services Oct. 15. Their fathers and
mothers will be guests of honor at 1a recep-
tion after Sabbath eve services Friday -eve-
ning, Oct. 28, at the Art Institute.

Of Fourth Annual Laymen's Institute
Bnai Israel Officers
Installed at Dinner
The fourth annual Layman's
Institute of the Men's Club of
Shaarey Zedek will open with a
public forum Wednesday eve-
ning, Nov. 16.
Guest speaker fof- the open-
ing lecture will be Judge Louis
E. Levinthal, associate judge of
the Common Pleas Court of
Philadelphia . County. His sub-
ject will be "Tomorrow's Juda-
ism." As adviser on Jewish .af-
fairs to General Lucius D. Clay
in Germany and Austria, Judge
Levinthal was brought into close
contact with the Jewish camps
and communities of Central
Europe. He is a past president of
the Zionist Organization of
America.
Following the opening forum,
the Institute will present two
courses on Thursday and Sat-
uprday evenings, Nov. 17 and 19,
Rabbi Ralph Simon of Chicago
will speak on "The Ethical
Classics of Judaism", and Rabbi
Benjamin H. Gorrelick of "Ra.shi
—The Prince of Jewish Com-
mentators". The late Friday
evening service on Nov. 19 will

synagogue.
Morris Kampner was installed
as president. He will be assisted
by Meyer Simon and Irwin
Kampner, vice presidents; Na-
than Crone, corresponding secre-
taw; Edward Blumeno, financial
secretary, and Milton Ressler,
treasurer.
Board members are Irving
Prizant, Ralph Merkovitz, Louis
Surowitz, Samuel Toby and Na-
than Zack.
Rabbi Jacob Chinitz gave the
installation address. Meyer .
Simon was toastmaster. Mrs.
Morris Blumeno spoke on behalf
of the Sisterhood and Mrs. Mey-
er Simon was chairman of the
dinner.
Chachmey Lublin Holds
Memorial Rites Saturday
Yeshivath Chachmey Lublin
will observe the Yarzheit of
Rabbi Meyer Shapiro at a . Me-
morial gathering Saturday
night.
Rabbi Shapiro was the founder
and dean of Yeshivath Chach-
mey Lublin of Europe.
,The guest speaker will be
Rabbi • A. B. Zilberg, former
Rabbi of Warsaw, Poland, and at
present a Rabbi in Pittsburgh.
A meal will be served by
the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Yeshivath. Chairman will be
J. Soberman and the toast-
master, J. Weisberg. The
gathering will take place at 7:30
p.m. Saturday in the Yeshivath,
at Linwood and Elmhurst. All

The Institute will close with a
dinner Sunday, Nov. 20, with
Dr. Israel J. Kazis, spiritual
leader of Temple Mishkan. Tifila,
Boston, as main speaker.
The Institute is open to the
men and women of the corn-
munity. It serves as a prelude to
the twenty Tuesday evenings of
adult courses.

manian ,government has agreed
to allow . 60 of the 240 Jews
awaiting transportation to Israel
at the port of Constanza to em-
bark on the S.S. Ellath following
