Widow Rides Wild Arabian Horse

Givat Zeid is one of the nearby new kibutzim, established in
tribute to the memory of Alexander Zeid. Zeid's widow—Tziporah
—in her late- sixties, rides wild Arabian horses as easily as apy
Bedouin.
One of her three sons, Yochanan, Was with us when we climb-
ed into the caves to see the remnants of the ancient Jewish civili-
zation.
•The excavations have only begun. The major task of unearth-
ing the old cities remains—depending, as so much else in Israel,
upon available funds.

Sdeh Yaakov might have been dull, except for the religious
zeal reflected in the life of the settlers, and if not for the infor-
mation we gathered from the people—the' newcomers, the resettled
Orphans and the 'pioneers.
