Prof. Abraham Halevy Fraenkel of Hebrew University, Jerusa-
lem, was a guest Tuesday and Wednesday at the home of Rabbi
and Mrs. M. J. Wohlgelernter.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fenton and family are now residing in
their new home at 19901 Strathmoor. In honor of the fourth
birthday of their son, Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton entertained
30 people at a party.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Goldhaver and son, Dale, of Rochester
-Ave., plan to move to Norfolk, Va., around Nov. 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lambert of Whittier D., spent a few days
visiting in Boston.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mayer of Pinehurst Ave. had as their
guests her daughter, Mrs. William Grodin, with her s two small
daughters, Julie and Mary Elizabeth of Cleveland.
Sidney Rothchild of Havana, Cuba, is spending a few months
as the guest of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Julius Rothchild of Moss
Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Miles Finsterwald of Balmoral Dr. are .spending
a week in New York.
AttendiQg the triennial meeting of the National Council of
Jewish WoiNn in Baltimore this week were Mrs. Samuel Glow-
gower, Mrs. Joseph Welt, Mrs. Louis Cohane, Mrs. Maier B. Fin-
sterwald, Mrs. Dan Krouse, Mrs. Lewis B. Daniels and Mrs. Wil-
liam H. Frank.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Marks of W. Outer Dr. left Tuesday to
spend a week in New York, where they will attend the marriage
on Sunday of Eleanor Sussman and their nephew, Donald Thal.
Mr. and Mrs. DeRoy Kuttnauer of Fairfield Ave. and Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Krohn of Whitmore Rd. left Tuesday for Chicago,
where they will spend a week at the Edgewater Beach Hotel.

Jewish Center Activities

A RED CROSS SENIOR LIFE
SAVING COURSE will be con-
ducted in the Jewish Center
swimming pool for six weeks
commencing Nov. 8. Classes will
be held Tuesday evenings and
Sunday afternoons. The last day
for registration is Nov. 7.

The 1949 billiards tournament
of the Twelfth St. Council Cen-
ter, started Oct. 24. All Center
members 12 to 19 are eligible to
participate and may still register
by calling Mr. Loewenberg at
TY. 8-6000.

Tryouts for the Center VAR-
SITY MEN'S and WOMEN-1S
SWIM TEAMS are now being
held in the Center pool. Inter-
ested men shOuld report to the
pool Monday, Wednesday or
Thursday evenings, while inter-
ested girls should come in on
Tuesday or Thursday evenings.

AJC Women Hold
Political Forum

To help support activities of
national note, such as the Anti-
Defamation League, the Greater
Detroit Bnai Brith ,Women's
Council is presenting the
"Borschtcapades" at its donor
event Nov. 21 at Masonic Tem-
ple.
Money raised at this event,
which is a combined effort of all
Detroit Bnai Brith Chapters, will
be distributed among all Bnai
Brith philanthropies. Mrs. Morris
Tack, city wide chairman of the
program, urges all chapters- to
contact - members immediately to
insure the success of the affair.

MISS MARILYN WOLFE

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wolfe of
Pasadena Ave. announce the en-
gagement of their daughter,
Marilyn, to Frederick Allan
Cherney, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Cherney of Glendale Ave.
A June wedding is planned.
Marilyn is the granddaughter
of Joseph Bernstein of The Jew-
ish Daily Forward.

Donor Event Nov. 12 Hadassah Town Hall

Nov. 15 has been set for the
culminating event of the Jew-
ish National Fund% Women's
Auxiliary membership drive.
On that date, a luncheon will
be held at the Jewish Center, at
which t h e recently-organized
JNF dramatic group, directed by
Mrs. Irving Arlin, will present
an original playlet by Mrs. Arlin.
Many women were signed up
as members at a tea held Oct.
24 at the home of Mrs. Harry
Tyner. Those attending were
entertained by Marilyn Kaplan,
violinist, accompanied by Mrs.
Samuel Barr, and heeird as
speakers Mrs. David Zellman,
who recently toured Israel, and
Mrs. David J. Cohen, member-
ship chairman.

Lectures on Holidays
Scheduled in November

Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
announces that the annual Town
Hall series of lectures by Mrs.
Morris Adler will be held on
Wednesdays during November
from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the
McGregor. Library, Woodward
and Cortland.
The topic for this year's series
will be "Around The Year in
Jewish Life" and will be divided
as follows:
Nov. 9, "How Jews Reckon
Time," The Sabbath—Corner-
stone of a Faith; Nov: 16, "The
Pilgrim Festivals, "Passover, Pen-
tecost and Tabernacles; No. 23,
"Penitence, Prayer and Acts of
Righteousness," The High Holi-
days; Nov. 30, "Monuments in
Time," Chanukah, Purim and
the 5th of Iyar.
