Bnai David Religious School
will hold regular classes at Cen-
tral High school beginning Sun-
day, Oct. 23. Hebrew classes will
begin at 9:30. All others at
10:30.
The_school attempts to in-
culcate a traditional philosophy
of Judaism. Children are taught
the faith, practices, history and
literature of Judaism. Prior to
each holiday, all children meet
in the synagogue auditorium for
instruction and inspiration for
the approaching holiday.
Sunday will be the final op-
portunity for prospective stu-
dents to enroll. Those who wish
to register are asked to come to
Central High at 10 am,

Classes for Parents

Bernard Panush, director of
the Beth Aaron Sunday School,
announces the reactivation of
an adult study class to be con-
ducted every Sunday morning
in conjunction with the Sunday
School.'
Purpose of the adult class is
to accomodate parents w h o
bring their „children to the
school. Parents will have an op-
portunity to utilize Sunday
morninzs to study Jewish his-
tory. religion, Zionism and cur-
rent events.

The Carmel Hebrew School
and .Congregation will move at
the end of this month to their
new building at 17556 Wyoming,
between Santa Clara and That-
cher.
On Saturday, Oct.. 29, at 9 a.m.,
the pupils of the school will con-
duct the entire services in the
new building. Martin Ross, 14,
will deliver the sermon.
On Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.,
the Scrolls will be taken from
the old school at 11845 Linwood
to the new building. The
school will be opened by Sam
Bonin, president. Sol B. Edel-
man, chairman of the board,
and Abe Allen will carry the
scrolls into the building. They
will be placed in the Ark by
Marc Chessler and Lloyd Wol-
berg.
John J. Glass of Toronto and
prominent rabbis will address
the audience.

A new departure in congrega
tional education and the use of
the sermon as a device for stim-
ulating thought is being experi-
mented with by Rabbi Harry
Essrig of Temple Emanuel in
Grand Rapids.
Rabbi Essrig is instituting a
series of 10 Friday night ser-
mons for the discussion of prob-
lems faced by American Jewry
today. On five nights, the con-
gregation will gather after serv-
ices to discuss the sermon con-
tent, and on alternate Wednes-
day nights gatherings will be
held at individual homes to dis-
cuss sermon topics.
A committee will be appointed
to record the proceedings which
will be compiled and edited for
publication. The series begins
Nov. 4..

Beth Yehudah will be held this
Sunday. Oct. 23. Samuel B. Solo-
mon, chairman of the board, an-
nounces. Breakfast w ill be

shiva afternoon school students
in Rosh Hodesh services in the
Yeshiva synagogue, at 9 o'clock,
prior to the meeting.
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah was
the chief beneficiary of the
holiday appeal in the synagogue
of the Jewish Home for Aged.
More than 60% of the old folks'
$200 pledge has already been de-
livered by Ira Sonnenblick,
