Holiday Season Concludes
At Services This Weekend

Detroit synagogues will resound to the songs of wor-
shippers Rejoicing in the Law this Saturday evening and
Sunday morning, as congregations observe Simhat Torah.
Services for Chemini Atzeret, the concluding day of Sukkot,
will be held Friday evening, Oct. 14, and Saturday morning
Oct. 15. Yizkor rites will be read at Saturday morning
services.

At the Northwest Synagogue,
worship is scheduled for 5:30
p.m. Friday and Saturday and
8:45 a.m. Saturday. Rabbi Jacob
E. Segal will preach on "Judaism
by Contagion."
A special children's Simhat
Torah Hakafos ceremony will be
held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Chil-
dren will assemble in their class-
rooms and then proceed with
their teachers to the main syna-
gogue.
At Bnai David
At Bnai David, services are
set for 6 p.m. Friday, 8:45 a.m.
Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
Hakafos will be at 7 p.m. Satur-
day.
Rabbis Pinchos Katz 's will
preach on the topic, "A New
Hope for Tprah-True Jewish-
ness" at Shemini Atzeret ser-
vices at Beth Aaron. His Simhat
Torah sermon will be on "The
Soul of Simhat Torah." At 6:30
p.m. Saturday there will be a
children's Hakafos procession,
with gifts of flags, apples and
candy for participating young-
sters.
Adults will celebrate the holi-
day at Beth Aaron at a program
Saturday at 9:15 p.m. sponsored
by the Men's Club and the Sis-
terhood. Holiday rereshments
will be served.
Cong. Mogen Abraham
Cong. Mogen Abraham, Dexter
- at Cortland, announces this ser-
vice schedule: 5:30 p.m. Friday
and Saturday, 9 a.m. Saturday
and Sunday. Rabbi M. J. Wohl-
gelernter will speak at Yizkor
rites on Saturday morning.
Services will be held at 5:30
p.m. Friday and Saturday at
Cong. Beth Tefilo Emanuel, Tay-
lor at Woodraw Wilson, and at
9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter will
preach on Sunday.
At Beth Abraham Synagogue,
services will be at 5:45 p.m. Fri-
day and Saturday, and at 9:15
a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Rabbi Joseph Thumin will preach
on Saturday morning, and Rabbi
Israel I. Halpern on Sunday.

Ninety-four newly enrolled
kindergarten and first grade

ducted into their study of Juda-
ism by Dr. B. Benedict Glazer.
This ceremony has been insti-

chas Torah. Dr. Glazer will bless
the children and each child will
receive a miniature Torah.

DR. ALBERT I. GORDON, ex-
ecutive director of the United
Synagogue of America, national
organization of Conservative
congregations, has accepted the
call of Temple Emanuel, New-.
ton Centre, Mass., to serve as its
spiritual leader, it was announ-
ced by Ira Nelson, president of
Temple Emanuel. Dr. Gordon
has served as executive director
of the United Syna,gogue since
September, 1946. He will assume
his i new post Jan. 1.
