Classes Suspended
For Sukkot Fete

Fighter of Prejudice
To Speak Before
Temple Israel Men

Dr.°S. Andhil Fineberg, author
of "Combating Anti-Semitism"
and originator of the "quarantine
treatment" for rabble-rousers,
will address the Men's Club of
Temple Israel on his latest book,
"Punishment Without Crime."
Dr. Fineberg's lecture will be
given at the annual dinner of
the Men's Club at the Hotel
Statler at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 18.
Dr. Fineberg, director of com-
munity service of the American
Jewish Committee, was a class-
mate of Rabbi Leon Frain at
the Hebrew Union College.
Other speakers will be Maurice
Levin, president of Temple Is-
rael Men's Club, and • Charles
Aller, chairman of the program
committee.

Sabbath services on Oct. 22.

Although general studies class-
es were suspended for Sukkot at
Beth Yehudah Day School, all
students attended half-day ses-
sions to conduct festivities in
the large Sukkot on the school
playground, and to practice the
customs of the holiday. Beth
Yehudah afternoon classes are
continuing as usual.
Rabbis Sholom Goldstein and
Abraham Freedman of the He-
brew faculty directed arrange-
ments for a traditional meal
under the Sukkot.

Eighth Graders Get
Diplomas at Shaarey.
Zedek Ceremonies

Graduation exercises of eighth
grade students of the Shaarey
Zedek Religious School will take
place on Smhat Torah, Sunday
morning, Oct. 16, in the main
synagogue immediately follow-
ing the service.
Bernard Firestone will give
the opening prayer and Sharton
Kass will give a talk on "Where
Do We Go from Here?" Rabbi
Morris Adler will address the
class, and Dr. Leonard Sidlow
will announce honor awards.
Diplomas will be presented by
Harry M. Shulman, president of
the congregation, and Charles
Rubiner, vice president. Rabbi
_Benjamin H. Gorrelick will 41e-
liver the benediction. Class and
congregational singing will con-
clude the program.

Participate in Party

The High School of Temple
Beth El will hold a progressive
dinner party at 7:30 p:m. Satur-
day,. Oct. 15, at the homes of
Sidney Kleinman, Johanna and.
Robert Frankel and Marlene
Shulak.
The dinner committee consists
of: Kenneth Bronson, Joseph
Burke, Johanna and Robert
Frankel, Barbara Gilbert, Carol
Gould, Janet-Katz, Sidney Klein-
man, Joyce Lane, Stuart Orman,
Barry Safir and Marlene Shulak.
Ruben Selitsky, of the High
School faculty, is advisor.

The younger group, ages six
to 12, will be directed by Walter
Farber, and the older boys and
girls, 13 to 17, by Max Chom-
sky.
Services will begin at 10 a.m.
They are open to all children.

Blessing of Children
darks Temple Israel
Feast of Conclusion

The ceremony of the blessing
of the children will be observed
by Temple Israel at the services
of the 'Feast of Conclusion, She-
mini Atzeret at 10:00 a.m. Sat-
urday, Oct. 15, at the Detroit In-
stitute of Arts.
Fifty children of the ages of
four and five who have just
begun their religious education
at Temple Israel, will march in
procession, place flowers upon
the altar and receive the bless-
ing of the rabbi: Services will be
read by Rabbi Leon Fram.
"The Story of Creation" will
be the subject of Rabbi Fram's
sermon Friday, Oct. 14. At this
service Michael Ivan Fisher, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Fisher,
will celebrate his Bar Mitzvah.
Sunday morning, Oct. 16, the
children of Temple Israel Reli-
gious School will bring Sukkot
gifts to be delivered to the Chil-
dren's Hospital.

ed to his 11th term as president
of Cong. Beth Abraham at a

Bnai Moshe Men's Club
Plans Harvest Dance

The Men's Club of Congrega-
tion Bnai Moshe will hold its
annual Sirnchas Torah Harvest
Dance at 8:30 p.m., Oct. 16, .in
the congregation's social hall,

The Sisterhood and Young
