Van Wagoner Greets
Jews of Bavaria
Nelson Eddy at Masonic
Auditorium October 24
FRANKFURT, (JTA)—Murray
Van Wagoner, American military
government of Bavaria, extend-
ed New Year's greetings to the
Jews of this German state in a
letter to Dr.. Aron. Ohrenstein,
Chief Rabbi of Bavaria. A holi-
day message of greeting to the
Jewish people was also released
by Dr. Hans Ehard, Prime Min-
ister of the state.
Governor Van Wagoner's letter
expressed the hope that the fu-
ture would bring happiness and
tranquility which "through in-
tolerance and ignorance has
been withheld from the Jews for
so long." Addressing himself to
both the DPs and to the Ger-
man Jews, - Gov. Van Wagoner
declared: "To those of you who
intend to take up a new life in
your own country, I wish a safe
journey and all the blessings
that are the heritage of a free
people. To those who are re-
maining in Bavaria, I pledge
that the military government
will uphold your rights and priv-
ileges at all times."
Nelson Eddy, the American
baritone, who will appear at Ma-
sonic Auditorium on Monday,
Oct. 24, continues to be one of

Cinema Theater Starts
New Re-Release Policy
For several years, the Cinema
Theatre has developed a dis-
criminating adult audience for
distinguished motion pictures.
This audience is interested not
only in first-rate foreign films
but also first-rate American pic-
tures whether produced or re-
leased currently or years ago.
Because of this belief, the
Cinema Theatre. has arranged
with Paramount Pictures to re-
lease outstanding films to be
shown from time to time be-
tween the Cinema Theatre's reg-
ular premiere showing of foreign
and domestic classics.
The inaugural program begins
at the Cinema Friday, Oct. 7. It
features "Mississippi," with film
stars Bing Crosby, W. C. Fields,
Joan Bennett and Gail Patrick,
and features the music of Rodg-
ers and Hart. The second fea-
ture, starring W. C. Fields and
Alison Skipworth, will be "Tillie
& Gus."

The Ballet Russe de Monte
