dance of the Temple Beth El Chi, national Jewish business
Young People's Club.
Acting social chairman Mary
Lou Kleinman has arranged for
a six-piece orchestra to play for
dancing in the Temple social
hail from 2:30 to 5 p.m. All
young people 18 to 30 are in-
vited.
The YPC calendar for the
coming season will.feature after-
noon house parties, evening dis-
cussion groups with sponsor
Rabbi Sidney Akselrad, a mar-
riage forum, a winter sleigh
ride, the annual homecoming
service for vacationing college
students and a winter carnival
in the Irish Hills.

YPS of Shaarey Zedek
Plans Membership Meet

An open membership meeting
is planned for 8:30 p.m. Thurs-
day, Oct. 6, by the Yvng Peo-
ple's Society of Shaarey Zedek.
The meeting will be held in the
foyer of the Shaarey Zedek soc-
ial hall, • and will be followed by
a social.

Young Volunteers
Sought for Service
in Torch Fund Drive

Volunteers are urgently need-
ed to help call on prospects in
the area assigned to the Com-
munity Service Committee of
the Jewish Young Adult Council
in the forthcoming Torch Fund
drive, Albert Colman and Sam
Kaner, Torch Fund co-chairmen
for the area, announced.
The Community Service Com-
mittee will supply leadership
personnel for the area, which
encompasses four districts,
bounded by Woodward, Chicago
Blvd., Grand Blvd. and Dexter.
Workers in four diStricts will
be headed by Allen Bobroff, Dis-
trict 1; Mrs. Lawrence Fleisch-
man and Joan Goldstein, Dis-
trict 2; Mrs. Joseph Eaton, Dis-
trict 3, and Toby Holtzman, Dis-
trict 4.
Five member agencies of the
Jewish Welfare Federation will
receive their deficit financing
through th Torch Fund. These
include Fresh Air Camp, Hebrew
Free Loan - Association, main
building of the Jewish Commun-
ity Center, Jewish Social Service
Bureau, and North End Clinic.
In addition ,the Fund finances
more than 200 other private sec-
tarian and non sectarian social
services agencies.
Anyone interested in working
for the ' Torch Fund during the
day or during evening hours is
invited to call Evelyn Finegood,
at WO. 5-3939.
The drive will open Oct. 16,
and will continue through Nov.
18.

Wayne University chapter of
the Inter-collegiate Zionist Fed-
eration of America, IZFA, held
its first meeting of the new
term Tuesday afternoon in the
tea lounge of the University's
Studentent Center.
Members of Hadassah acted as
hostesses, as old members and
incoming freshmen were feted.
The next meeting will be at
8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in
Hillel House. New and prospec-
tive members are invited to at-
tend the meeting, which will
feature a program to orientate
new members to IZFA.

`Hadassah Hit Parade'
Set This Wednesday

"Hadassah Hit Parade" is the
theme of the opening meeting of
Detroit chapter of Junior Ha-
dassah, set for 8 p.m. Wednes-
day, Oct. 5, at the Jewish Corn-
munity Center.
The program for the year will
be outlined, according to Blanche
Berman, president. Old and new
members and their friends are
invited. Refreshments will corn-
plete the evening.

As a senior he obtained hon-
