To Open Season
Mrs. Joseph M. Markel, presi-
dent of the Sisterhood of the
Northwest Hebrew Congregation,
announces that the first meeting
of the new year will be at 8:30
p.m., Wednesday. Oct. 5, at the
synagogue social hall.
The program of the evening,
"Designed for Living," will fea-
ture members as models in a
fashion show.
This meeting is open to all
members and prospective mem-
bers. A social hour will follow.

donated $25 to the emergency
polio relief fund. The auxiliary
augmented this amount by $10.
The Auxilary also made an addi-
tional $55 contribution to the
JWV Memorial Home and re-
ceived a $25 pledge from one of
its members.

Gold Star Fathers Ask
Eligible Men to Meeting
Meyer Silverman, preSident of
the Gold Star Fathers of Detroit,
announces the organization's
first fall meeting at the Jewish
Community Center Tuesday
evening, Oct. 4.
The organization consists of
fathers of Jewish war dead of
World War II. Silverman invites
those fathers who are not
ready members to attend the
meeting.
The Gold Star Fathers are now

Memorial Home campaign,

'Double Triangle' Club
The young women who for-
merly constituted the Bicur Cho-
lem Jrs. have now organized
"The Double Triangle," a chari-
table organization. The group's
title refers to the double tri-
angles that font. the Star of
David.
Proceeds of an Aug. 13 wiener
roast held by the group were
used to purchase a television
set for • the • children at Lapeer.
The club wishes to thank the
Goodfellowship club and its
auxiliary for their cooperation.

Jewish War Veterans Ladies'
Auxiliary donor luncheon took
on added momentum at the first
of a series of Monday meetings
at the home of Edith Hoffman.
The fund-raising luncheon,
which will be held at Masonic
Temple Nov. 15, will be under
the direction of honor chairman
Birdie Rosenberg. Assisting her
are co-chairman . Edith Hoff-
man; program, Arlene Rhodes;
tickets, Silvia Koss, Rose Can-
tor; Liners, Rose Gottlieb, Fan
Hencken; publicity and program
book, Rosalind Marks.
Funds earned at the donor
luncheon will go towards com-
pletion of the JWV memorial
home and for auxiliary hospital
work.
Donor chairmen from each of
the 16 auxiliaries will be present
at the Monday meetings.
Lipsky Leaves Red Mogen Dovid
NEW YORK — (JTA) — Louis
Lipsky today announced his
resignation as president of the
American Red Mogen Dovid. The
statement said that his action
was taken on account of his new
duties as chairman of the Amer-
ican Zionist Council.
