Hawaii, following a three-month visit in Detroit.

toring through the East on an extended vacation trip.

tute, YIVO annuonces the pub-
lication, on Sept. 26, of COL-
LEGE YIDDISH, an introduction
to the Yiddish language and to
Jewish life and culture, by Uriel
Weinreich, . with a preface by
Prof. Roman Jakobson of Har-
vard University. The book, the
first to teach the effective use
of standard Yiddish on a mature
level, is suitable for both class-
room use and self instruction. A
notable feature are the back-
ground chapters, in English,
which touch upon many vital
problems of Jewish life and cul-
ture in this country and abroad.
