director of the Hillel Founda-
tion at Yale University, at New
Haven, Conn., the Rev. Sidney
Lovett, University Chaplain, an-

Samuel Sandmel who resigned
last June to accept a faculty
position at Vanderbilt Univer-
sity.

Zaim's Murder Stopped
Ben Gurion Meeting
JERUSALEM, (JTA) — UN
Chief of Staff Gen. William
E. Riley had arranged a
meeting between Israel Pre-
mier David Ben Gurion and
the late Syrian president
Husni Zaim before the Matter
was assassinated, the \ Arab
press reported.
Gen. Riley's early efforts
were useless, it was revealed,
because Premier Ben Gurion
refused to meet until Syria
had signed the armistice pact.
After the signing, the date
was set for August 21, seven
days after Zaim's murder.
