arranged and pictures of inter-
est, donated by the U.S. Navy,
will be shown. President Ham-

at local hospitals. On Wednes-

Aged Residents Feted
On August Birthdays
Residents of the Jewish Home
for Aged were treated to a four-
star program at the party on
August 25 celebrating the birth-1
days of residents born during
August.
Appearing on the program
were Lt. Herman German of the
Detroit Police Department, who
presented a series of magic
tricks; Sam Barnett, clarinetist;
Beatrice Shapiro, singer; and
ten-year-old Robert Shulman,
Detroit piano prodigy,
Robert's appearance on the
program had sentimental signifi-
cane to the residents since his
grandfather, the late Sam Mil-
ler, was a resident of the home.
Entertainment for the party
was arranged by Dr. Benjamin
Welling, chairman of the Home's
recreation committee. Members
of the Women's Auxiliary acted
as hostesses, under the chair-
manship of Mrs. J. Rose.

Israel to Attend Beirut
Conference on Food
TEL AVIV (JTA)—The Israeli
Government has accepted an in-
vitation from the United Na-
tions to attend the forthcoming
conference of the UN-sponsored
Food and Agricultural Organiza-
tion in Beirut, which is sched-
uled to open Sept. 19. Dr. Israel
Porzelan, a top official of the
Agriculture Ministry, is expected
to represent the Jewish state at
the parley.

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Glad-
win (Rhea Cashman) of Detroit
are leaving this week, via Air
France, for Paris, where they
will remain for a week, and
from there will go on to Israel

They plan to open an office
of their World Wide Travel Bu-
reau in Israel, in order to facili-
