Bunche as UN acting Palestine mediator may be terminated when the Security Council • receives • his final report on the armistices concluded between Israel and the Arab states. Dr. Bunche con- siders his mission completed, it was announced by acting UN Secretary-General Byron Price. Price said he could not com- ment on the possibility that the Council may recruit Dr. Bunch& to assist the Conciliation Com- mission in its efforts at Lau- sanne to achieve a permanent Arab-Israeli peace, and added that it is hoped Dr. Bunche's re- port will be a stimulus to the Lausanne talks to "reach a fi- nal solution." •. A general settlement of the peace in Palestine is omitted from the provisional agenda of the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assem- bly which opens Sept. 20 at Flushing Meadow. The agenda reveals that there will be a discussion of the inter- nationalization of Jerusalem, the protection of the Holy Places and assistance to the Palestine Arab refugees. Other items of major interest to Jews on the provisional listing are the con- version of the genocide conven- tion into international law and the conversion of the human rights declaration into an inter- national covenant.
