Agency Refutes
Alleged Bias
Against Agudah

Expenditures of $1,500,000 on
behalf of Agudath Israel and
Poalei Agudath Israel since Oc-
tober, 1948, with an additional
$750,000 budgeted for 'the re-
mainder of the fiscal year, were
revealed this week in a state-
ment by the Jewish Agency, re-
futing alleged allocation dis-
trimination by the Agency
against the two organizations.
The Agency, which administers
that portion of United Jewish
Appeal funds allocated to immi-
gration and absorption in Israel,
has spent funds for absorption
and housing of members of. Agu-
dath Israel and. Poalei Agudath
Israel: for their educational in-
stitutions; for Agudah children,
through youth Aliyah, and for
agriculture and colonization in
behalf of Poalei Agudath Israel.
In light of these figures, the
Agency statement declares, "all
allegations that Agudath Israel
and Poalei Agudath Israel are
being discriminated against are
obviously not based on reality.
All new immigrants, whether or
not they are members of • Agu-
dah, are given equal treatment."
