Annual National Fund Collections
Scheduled on Tisha b'Ab, Aug. 3, 4

+Annual Tisha b'Ab collections will be made in local
synagogues, in accordance with established traditions, Irving
W. Schlussel, president of the Jewish National Fund Council
of Detroit, announced this week.
"The establishment of the Jewish state necessitates in-
creased efforts for land redemption and for the upbuilding
of lands that were neglected as a result of the destruction
of the First and Second Temples," Schlussel said.
- "While the period of mourning is over, we commemorate
Tisha b'Ab as a historic day to remind us of our tragedies.
On these days, we desire that all our people should remem-
ber the past in order to fortify our future. We call upon
all Detroit Jews to make their contributions to the Jewish
National Fund and to assure the upbuilding of Israel."
Arthur Shutkin, executive director of the JNF Council,
stated that volunteer workers have been enlisted to ask for
gifts on Wednesday night, Aug. 3, the eve of Tisha b'Ab, and
Thursday morning, Aug. 4, Tisha b'Ab, in all synagogues.
The list of synagogues and those assigned to them for this
JNF effort will be announced next week.

HAT'S THAT wonderful new
Ford "feel" you hear everyone raving
about? It's malty things.

For the past five weeks the
Jewish Community Council has
utilized the facilities of WDET-
FM to acquaint the community
with its activities and the ac-
tivities of its constituent organi-
zations. Station -WDET• has
turned over the Jewish-Ameri-
can portion of its cosmopolitan
hour, at 11 a.m. on Sundays, for
this purpose.
Future programs will feature
constituent organizations of the
Council such as the Landsman-
schaften, the American JeWish
Committee, and the Jewish La-
bor Committee, as well as Jew-
ish music and Yiddish cultural
discussion. The programs are
arranged and directed by the
JCC staff.

It's the level "feel" of Ford's new "Mid
Ship" Ride. You sit cradled between
wheels in the new lower center section.

It's the smooth easy-stopping "feel" of
Ford's new "Magic Action" Brakes .. .
brakes that are fully self-energizing to
stop you 35% easier.

It's the "feel" of surging power in Ford's
new 100 h.p. V.8 and 95 h.p. Six engines.
Only Ford in its field offers you a V-1 ype
engine (the type used in America's cost-
liest cars).

And behind that new Ford "feel" are
many other Ford "firsts." New, smooth
"Hydra-Coil" and "Para-Flex" Springs
. . . new "Lifeguard" Body and frame
structure—,59% more rigid . . . new
"Sofa wide''' Seats—more hip and
shoulder room than any other car in its
field.

INSURED

And with the new "feel" comes new
classic-smooth styling. The famed New
York Fashion Academy judged Ford the
"Fashion Car of the Year."
