Resort Restriction Sign
Removed After I 9 Yrs.

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn., (JTA)
Clifford Hamilton, president
of the. Lake Beseck resort com-
munity near here, revealed that
a sign reading "For Christians
Only" and posted at the sum-
mer colony' will be removed de-
spite the fact that residents of
the community voted to keep
it in place.
The placard was first put up
in 1930, when the community
was organized. Despite a 68-17
vote to keep the sign, Hamilton,
who is opposed to it, said: "The
sign will be down this week and
I doubt if anyone will raise any
fuss. The vote did not really
represent the feeling of the
community: I have talked to
many residents who realize a
sign like that has no place in
our country."

Vienna Jews Ask to

Escort Herzl Remains

VIENNA, (JTA) - Leaders of
the Vienna Jewish community
adopted a resolution requesting
the Israeli Government for per-
mission to send a special dele-
gation ,when the remains of
Theodor Herzl, founder of mod-
ern Zionism, are flown to Is-
rael for reburial. Tentative date
of the transfer • is set for Aug.
10. The present Herzl grave is
at Doebling cemetery, outside
Vienna. The Jewish community
here voted to purchase the
Doebling grave for conversion
into a national shrine.
Dr. Herzl's coffin will be re-
moved. from Doebling cemetery
and, with an honor guard of
10 Israeli soldiers, will be flown
to Israel from the Tull Air Base
in the U. S. zone for reburial.
A delegation of Israeli Govern-
ment officials will come here to

witness the exhumation.

by David Zvi Pinkas, deputy
