Jonas Returns; Will Resume Activity For Democratic Party Recently returned from Europe is J. Walter Jonas, former young Detroit businessman and politi- cian, who left Detroit three years ago to do a stint with the Adjutant General's Department with the European Command of the Department of the Army. Serving mainly with the G-1 in Austria, Jonas worked for 2 years with the personnel a n d administra t i o n branch, later switching over to military gov- ernment a n d counter - intel- J. IV. Jonas ligence work. While stationed in Vienna for over a year, he worked partially with the Vienna Inter-allied Council. Prior to his department from Detroit in 1946, Jonas served as the state agtivities director of the Young .Democratic Clubs of Michigan, and was associate editor of the Young Democrat newspaper under former state chairman Francis W. Mahon. Jonas plans to resume publica- tion of the newspaper shortly.
