Detroit businessman and politi-
cian, who left Detroit three
years ago to do a stint with the
Adjutant General's Department
with the European Command of
the Department of the Army.
Serving mainly
with the G-1 in
Austria, Jonas
worked for 2
years with the
personnel a n d
administra t i o n
branch, later
switching over
to military gov-
ernment a n d
counter - intel-

While stationed in Vienna for
over a year, he worked partially
with the Vienna Inter-allied
Council.
Prior to his department from
Detroit in 1946, Jonas served as
the state agtivities director of
the Young .Democratic Clubs of
Michigan, and was associate
editor of the Young Democrat
newspaper under former state
chairman Francis W. Mahon.
Jonas plans to resume publica-
tion of the newspaper shortly.
He is residing with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jonas,
at 1962 Clairmount Ave., and in-
tends to resume his law studies
at Wayne University.

Thrives in Israel
An intensive campaign urg-
ing Jewish housewives to pur-
chase Kosher meat has been
inaugurated by the Kosher
Butchers' Association.
At the same time, the As-
sociation reminds housewives
to make their meat purchases
only from Kosher butchers
who display all cuts of beef,
veal and lamb, together with
prices ranging from 20c to 65e
p e r pound, in accordance
with the recent agreement
arrived at through delibera-
tions with the Jewish Com-
munity Council.
