will leave July 5 by plane from New York for an extended stay in
Israel. She will be accompQmied to New York on July 1 by her
mother.
Mrs. Julius Ring and daughter, Estelle, of 3303 Clements, are
leaving July 11 for a weeks' stay in Los Angeles.
Rabbi and Mrs. Albert A. Gordon and small daughter, Judith
Michele, of Sioux City, Ia., spent several days with their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gordon of 2730 Elmhurst, enroute to the rab-
binical convention in Bretton Woods, N. H. Rabbi Gordon will
be guest speaker on the Message of Israel broadcast at 1 a.m.
Sunday, July 17, on the American Broadcasting Co. network.
Among the campers who left last week for Camp Chickagami•
at Winter, Wisconsin, were Janice Manning and Connie Sarason.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Butzel of Birmingham, spent the holiday
week-end in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way left on
Thursday on a European tour.
Mrs. Day Krolik of Wildemere Ave. and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Brodie of Oak Dr. are vacationing in the Poconoe Mts.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo I. Franklin of Muirland Ave. spent the holi-
day weekend in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Klein of Chicago Blvd., are spending a
few days at the Homestead in White Sulphur Springs, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Shwayder and their son, Dick, of Fair-
field Ave., left on Tuesday for a few months' visit in Europe.
Leaving this week for Quarter Circle H. Dude Ranch at Wood-
land Pk., Colorado, were Sandra Brown, Carol Jean Lichterman,
Carol Barnett and Jacqueline Harris.
Miss Etta Ascher and her brother Clarence Ascher of the Park
Laie Apt., spent the holiday week-end in Charlevoix.
Mrs. Nathan Simons and her sons, Broudy and Edgar, of
Strathcona Dr., left on Sunday for a visit in California.
Mrs. H. C. Broder and her son, Bill sailed last Friday on the
S. S. Niew Amsterdam for Europe. They plan to spend time in
Switzerland, Italy and Israel before returning home.
Miss Julia Klein and her father, Aaron Klein, of Boston Blvd.
returned on Tuesday from Cleveland and Lorain, 0., where they
spent a few days visiting with members of their family.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jacobs of Glynn Ct., Dr. and Mrs. Moe
Perlis also of Glynn Ct. and Mrs. Jacob Rogvoy of Blaine Ave. re-
turned on Thursday- from a few days motor trip to the Muskoko
Lakes, Ontario.
David Schwartz, son of Dr. and Mrs. A. Louis Schwartz of
Cambridge Rd., was graduated from the George School in Phila-
delphia and left with some school friends on a European trip.
Mrs. Samuel Pollock of Wan Ave., is spending a few weeks
in Cleveland visiting with members of her family. -
Mr. and Mrs. Edmund B. Linx of Byron Ave., are spending 10
days at Biddeford Poole, Maine, where they are the guests of her
brother-in-law and sister.
Mrs. Hyman Miller, her daughters, Mrs. S. David Hershman
and Mrs. Jack Schok, and her granddaughters, Susan, Judy and
Debbie Hershman, left on Thursday for Pointe Pelee, Ont., where
they will spend the summer months. Their husbands will join
them at various times during the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sacks of Dexter Blvd. have returned from
a` fewweeks' stay in New York.

Men's Clubs

Members of the conservation
committee of PISGAH LODGE,
and their wives, celebrated the
culmination of their conserva-
tion drive at a dinner-dance
June 30 at Northwood. Inn.
President Meyer W. Leib pre-
sented certificates of merit for
outstanding work in the drive,
which began in March, 1949.

tee of Bnai Brith, under the di-
rection of chairman Joe Feld-
man of the LOUIS MARSHALL
LODGE, is arranging for a
showing of movies at the Veter-
ans' Marine • Hospital, on East
Jefferson -on July 23. Ech of
the eighteen local Bnai Brith
lodges is planning a similar
event during the year. The
program committee of Louis
Marshall Lodge has made ar-
rangements for a moonlight to
Bob-Lo on Sunday, August 14.
Philip Handler Lodge is partici-
pating in this event.

Linwood Branch PTO
Entertains Students

The Parent-Teachers Organi-
zation of the Linwood Branch
of the United Hebrew Schools,
located at Linwood and Hazel-
wood, entertained the children
of that school last Wednesday.
The .program was arranged by
the gaff of the school, headed
by Morris Nobel, principal, as-
sisted by Rose Pike and Israel
Elpern.
Prizes for Scholarship and
Attendance were 'distributed to
students by Mrs. A. Kolegowsky
of the PTO.
The organization was repre-

and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Silver.

of the preceding year presented
their annual reports.
The conference was devoted to
the discussions of plans and the
solutions of problems which will
confront the 1949-1950 adminis-
tration. Dec. 14 was designated
as the date of the annual don-
or event.
The Council acknowledges the
recent contributions to its Child
Rescue and Building Funds from
the Leiyick Reading Club, the
Mendele Reading Club, the Min-
kovitcher Ladies Club and the
European Welfare Organization.

Series of Discussions
To Protect Children

The Jewish Community Coun-
cil of Detroit has been requested
by Mrs. Marian C. Hunter, chief
of the Police Department's
Women's Division, to call to the
attention of the Jewish com-
munity of Detroit, a series of
radio programs beginning at
1:45 p. in. Saturday, July 9, over
station WJLB.
These programs have been in-
spired by the public anxiety over
sex offenses against children.
Mrs. Hunter will be the moder-
ator in a series of panel discus-
sions which will emphasize to
both parents and children the
dangers of taking rides from
strangers, playing alone ,in al-
leys or deserted buildings, tak-
ing gifts or treats from strang-
ers, etc. A folder prepared by
the Police Department has been
distributed to all children in
elementary _schools and copies
are available at the Community
Council office.
