Annual Temple
Israel Meeting
Set for June 21

Temple Israel will hold its an-
nual congregational dinner and
meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday,
June 21, at the Detroit Leland
Hotel.

Featuring the meeting will be
an announcement by Louis H.
Schost.ak in behalf of the build-
ing committee, of which he is
chairman, indicating the date of
the start of construction of the
building of Temple Israel, on its
property at Manderson and
Merton Rds.

Graduation Program Kaufman Retains
Planned at Bnai David NW Presidency;

Bnai David Religious, School
will hold its graduation exer-
cises Sunday, June 26 at 10:30
a.m. The entire membership is
invited to this event, which
closes the season's activities in
the Synagogue.
The general theme, both in
the speeches of the graduates
and the music will be "The
State of Israel." An outline of
the history, geography, religious
the political and the social as-
pects of the State of Israel, with
appropriate music, will form the
center of the program.
The music will be presented
by Cantor Hyman Adler and - the
Bnai David choir, under the di-
rection of Harry Seigel. Rabbi
Joshua Sperka, Rabbi Eric
Greenbaum, Joseph Gorman,
president of the Synagogue, and
Mrs. Seldon Leach, president of
the Sisterhood, will participate
in the program.

Installation Friday

A special late Friday night
service to be held at the North-
west Hebrew Congregation and
Center June 17 will be the oc-
casion for the installation of
the newly-elected officers and
board members for the ensuing
year.
The installing officer will be
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal. The serv-
ices will be chanted by Cantor
Jacob Y. Goldring of Miami
Beach.

Reviving the traditional cere-
mony of the first fruits, 'Bik-
kurim" each class at Shaarey
Zedek Sunday School presented
a basket of fruit and a suitable
library book at the school's clos-
ing honor and Shavuoth cere-
mony June 5.
Thirty-six books were added
to the Shaarey Zedek library,
and the 36 baskets of fruit were
presented to the Jewish Home
for the Aged.
Outstanding students received
scholarship and attendance rec-
ord awards. Girls of the 10th
grade previewed the consecra-
ti'on service. A resume of the
holiday was presented by Elaine
Stein, Alice Jean Harris and
Hilda Fishman, and Shavuoth
readings were given by David.
