IARY, JWV, has donated $100 to
the JWV Memorial Home. Min-
nie Herman, hospital chairman,
announced that 29 boys from the
Marine Hospital will be taken to
the ball game and to lunch on
August 10. Two deck chairs were
purchased for the veterans. Ed-
ith Hoffman, newly-elected state
department • chairman, is also
director of the dramatic group
which is to be organized in the
fall. A Father's Day program
will be held on June 21, with re-
freshthents and games.

bara, to Marvin Allan Fenkel,

kel of Boston Blvd. Barbara was
graduated from the Kingsley

of the Council June 8.

ACCUSE CITY COLLEGE OF
PRACTICING RACIAL BIAS

NEW YORK, (JTA)—The ad-
ministration of the City College
of New York was accused by the
Teachers Union of practicing
racial discrimination in the hir-
ing and firing of faculty mem-
bers. The union pointed out
that 50 teachers hired immedi-
ately after the war have come
up' for permanent appointment.
Of these, 96 percent of the
white, non-Jewish probationary
teachers were awarded perma-
nent appointment as compared
to 52 percent in the case of the

Dr. Shmarya Kleinman, presi-
dent-elect of the Council, until
this week chairman of the in-
ternal relations committee, de-
clared that he had been greatly
encouraged by the response of
the community with regard to
committee activities in the field
of Kashruth, • Arbitration and
Negro-Jewish relationships.
New committee chairmen will
be selected by the incoming
slate of officers elected at the
delegates meeting on June 14.

has prepared a 12-page pamph-
let offering a suggested memo-
rial service for Jewish war dead
interred in the United States or
overseas, it was announced by
Rabbi Solomon B. Freehof,
chairman of the Division.
