Wins Plaudits of Community

Halevy Singing Society's weekly WKMH radio program is
winning community acclaim. Participants in last Suinday's program
included the above, left to right: Seated, Helen Kertesz, pianist,

director of the Halevy double quartet which appears on the pro-
gram weekly, and Moe Kesner, the program's moderator. The Jew-
ish News presents the news of the week on this program.
On Sunday, May 29, 6:30 to 7 p.m., over Station WKMH, 1310
on the dial, the featured artists will be Julius Chajes, pianist, and
Margaret Kozenn, soprano.
In honor of Memorial Day, the news broadcast in behalf of
The Jewish News Will' be presented by Harold F. Moran, command-

Menashe Skulnik in 'What a Guy'
At the Masonic Temple on Monday

The great sensation of the
New York and Chicago stages

edian Menashe Skulnik, is corn-
ing to Detroit, for one perfor-
mance only, in the main audi-
torium of the Masonic Temple,
on Monday evening, May 30
(Decoration Day), in the stellar

laughter, comes here with his
entire company, chorus and bal-
let, with the famous singers and
movie stars Lily Lilliana and
Leo Liebgold.
"What a Guy" is the work
of Abraham Ellstein, whose
tunefull accomplishments has
earned him top rank position
in the musical world. The book,
in two acts and eight scenes, is
by Isidore Friedman.
The musical show was ac-
claimed by the American press
as the most tuneful and hilar-
ious musicale on any stage.
- The production is done almost
entirely in English. The cast of
20 .players is headed by Yetta
Zwerling, Anna Teitelbaum and
Rose Wallerstein.

sented here by Abraham Litt-
man.

Detroiters Attend
Educators' Sessions

ATLANTIC CITY — Three
hundred Jewish educators and
community leaders convened
here May 26 for the opening ses-
sions of the five-day annual
_ meeting - of the American As-
sociation for Jewish Education.
Detroit delegates include Ber-
nard Isaacs and Albert Elazar.
A' panel of distinguished
American educators, headed by
-Dr. Earl J. McGrath, member
of the President's Commission
on Higher Education and re-
cently appointed U.S. Commis-
sioner of Education, will address
the delegates at various ses-
sions.
Dr. Mcdrath and Dean Ernest
0. Melby of the New York Uni-
versity School of Education will
speak at a session devoted to
"Jewish Education in the Ameri-
can Scene."
A Sabbath dinner will mark
the 10th anniversary of t h e
American Association for Jewish
Eduation, which was organized
at a convention held in this
city in May, 1939.
