Win Fencing Titles,
Enter Midwest Meet

• Mrs. Ray M. Lewis and daughter, Henrietta, have returned
from a four-month stay in Hollywood, Calif. They also visited in
Palm Springs and Coronado Beach, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marine Cpl. Alvin W. Harrison, who is stationed at Camp
Pendleton, Calif., is spending a month on furlough with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Harrison of Monica Ave. He has
recently returned from duty in - Alaska.
Mrs. Irving H. Small has returned from Chicago after spend-
ing several days with her sister and brother-inlaw, Dr. and Mrs.
M. Arnkoff.
Mrs. David Bowman and Mrs. Lebowski of Owosso, Mich.,
were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Irving H. Small of 1570 W. Seven
Mile Road this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Rubenstein of Mexico City have re-
turned to their home after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Har-
rison of Monica Ave. Mr. and Mrs. David Rubenstein, also of Mexi-
co City, visited here at the same time.
The Eugene Schiff family,• formerly of 3265 Joy Road, have
settled in their new home at 797 Ave. Z, Brooklyn, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Sydney V. Berman (Sylvia Horwitz)) announce
the adoption of a baby girl, Gail Suzanna.
Dr. and Mrs. Milton H. Okun are spending a few days. in New
York City, where Mrs. Okun, as Michigan; delegate, is attending
the National ORT convention at the Roos6elt Hotel.
Joyce Goldman was honored at a "sweet sixteen" party last
Saturday at her home. Guests included Barbara Meretsky, Mert
Robinowitz, Michele Shoenberg, Ronnie Meretsky, Rita Kahn, Jack
Baum, Claire Ettinger, Joel Barkoff, Elaine Greenberg, Larry
Clamage, Joan Stark, Lennis Ostrow and Mort Weiner.
Dr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Danto of Chicago Blvd. were at home
to honor Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rovetch on their thirtieth anniversary;
last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard H. Bloch of Muirland Ave. have re-
turned home after a six-months stay in Tucson, Ariz.

Honoring the 80th birthday
of Aaron Klein, more than 400
relatives and friends last Satur-
day night attended an im-
promptu reception at his home,
2284 W. Boston.
Men of all faiths and all Jew-
ish groupings, his associates in
business and in the numerous
congregational and community
activities, were present to pay
him honor.
On behalf of a number of his
friends, Dr. A. M. Hershman

presented to Mr. Klein a certifi-
cate signifying that he was hon-
ored by having his name in-
scribed in the Golden Book of
the Jewish National Fund in
Jerusalem.

Dr. Kleinman, who is slated
to become the next president of
the Jewish Community Council,
expressed joy over the re-estab-
lishment of Medinat Israel.
Ben-Zion Ilan, official repre-
sentative of the Israel Embassy,
eloquently described Israel's suc-
cess as "the greatest miracle of
modern times." He expressed re-
gret that the first step to state-
hood had to be on the battle-
field, but pointed out that
America, too, had a similar ex-
perience in its founding. He
asserted Israel is the strongest
democracy in the Middle East
and' declared that "Israel will
flourish as a result of. the ool-
lective effOrt of world Jewry."
