Bernstein Addresses

At Campaign Meeting

Joseph Bernstein, editor of the
Detroit Jewish Daily Forward,
will address the members of Yid-
dish-speaking organizations at
11 a.m. Sunday, May 8, at the
Workmen's Circle Building, Lin-
wood and Burlingame, on behalf
of the 1949 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.
Bernstein, who returned from
Israel only a few weeks ago, will
give a first hand report of his
observations in the new state.
At the same meeting, repre-
sentatives from various organi-

treasury gifts.
Bernstein is co-chairman of
the organizations division of the

Pledges of $3,066,450

Funds gathered for the 1949 Allied Jewish Campaign
reached a total of $3,066,450 on Tuesday, according to a
report submitted to the first report meeting of workers that

year, the basketball (blue) team
of Joseph Bale Post, Jewish War
Veterans, was honored with a
"dinner for the champions" by
the Jewish Community Center,
for having won the Center's
major basketball league tourna-
ment.
The dinner, held May 4, also
honored the Ted Allen Club,
second place winners.
Individual trophy awards, in
addition to the winning team
trophy, went to Ted Bale, Eli
Kaplansky, Louis Levine, Jerry
Manche', Bernard Schneider,
Mark Taub, Murray Weiss, Jerry
Wetsman, manager, and Maurice
Bale, sponsor.
