King David Reopens
As Hotel for. Civilians

NEW YORK (Palcor) = The
King David Hotel, in Jerusalem,
one of the most famous hostelries_
in the Middle East, will re-open
for civilian use this month after
more ;than a decade as military
and administrative headquarters
01 the British Mandatory regime
in Palestine, the Economic De-
partment of the Jewish Agency,
announced here.
The five-story structure, built
in 1932 of massive Jerusalem
stone, will provide 120 beds
which will prove extremely use-
ful in view of the expected Pass-;
over tourist rush to ISrael, a
Jewish Agency spokesman said.
He warned, however, that even
this addition to the country's
hotel space does not equal the
demand, and would-be tourists
to Israel are advised to secure
accomodations before sailing.
The King David is owned by
Palestine Hotels Ltd., in which is
invested capital from Egypt, the
United KingdoM and the United
States. The American shares are
held largely by the Palestine
Economic Corporation of New
York.

The key that opens the door -
to health frequently is handed to
the physician by the laboratory
technician, who*is" helped in his
scientific investigations by many
complex instruments. The. Van
Slyke apparatus, shown in this
picture taken at Mt. Carmel
Mercy Hospital, offers invaluable
assistance to the doctor in the
diagnosis of patients hi coma.
