"Beth Yehudah Day" Was ob-
served in a number of Detroit
synagogues April 14, the first day
of Passover. The event was pro-
claimed by the Detroit Council of
Orthodox Rabbis.

Bnai Moshe to Install
New Leaders at Late
Services on April 22
The new officers and directors
of Congregation Bnai Moshe
elected at the annual • meeting
April 3 will be installed by Rabbi
Moses Lehrman at a special late
Friday night service April 22.
The service will begin at 8:15.
Prayers will be chanted by Can-
tor David Katzman. "The Test of
Leadership" is the subject of Rab-
bi Lehrman's installation sermon.
A social hour will follow, spon-
sored by the Sisterhood. The pub-
lie is invited.
Sabbath eve worship April 15
will be at 6:45 p. m. The Sabbath
morning service will begin at
9. Rabbi Moses Lehr _ man will dis-
cuss "Can These Bones Live?"
Ch.ol Hamoed services will be
at 7:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.
Services the last days of Pass-
over will be 8:45 a: m. and 6:45
p. m. Thursday, when Yizkor
prayers are recited, the morning
services will begin at 8:30.
Young Israel Holds
26th Year Celebration
On May 29 at Mayfair
Sunday, May 29, a cross-section
of the community will gather at
the Mayfair, Dexter at Waverly,
to celebrate .the 26th anniversary
of.Youfig 'Israel in Detroit.
Charles T. Gellman, former
president of • the group and gen-
eral chairman of the anniversary
event, announced that the can-
tata "What is Torah" will be pre-
sented . by members of the Young
Israel youth groups-, under the
direction of Cantor Nathan T.
Adler of Windsor.
Gellman urged Detroit Jews to
participate in the organization's
anniversary campaign to help the
Young Israel Youth Center com-
plete each one as early as pos-
sible.
Assisting Gellman are Sam S.
Novetsky, chairman of the sou-
venir journal and Morris H. Ber-
ris, chairman of dinner tickets
and reservations.
Temple Israel Vacation
Dr. Glazer to Address
Grand Rapids Institute,
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer of
Temple Beth El will be principal
speaker at the Institute on Juda-
ism, to be sponsored by Temple
Emanuel in Grand Rapids„ Fri-
day, May 6.
Dr. Glazer will speak on "The
Fundamentals of Faith for These
Times" at the morning session,
and on "The Moral and Cer-
monial Laws of Judaism" in the
' afternoon. Clergymen of all
Grand Rapids churches are be-
ing invited to attend the - Insti-
tute.

'Ann Arbor Sunday School
„Gives Annual Model Seder
On S'unday morning, April 10,
the Sunday School of Cong. Beth
Israel in Am Arbor presented its
annual model seder. A feature of
the program this year was a pup-
pet show entitled "Moses in he
Pharaoh's Palace."
Participants in the program
were Burton Willer, Morton
Hirshman, Ronald Muchnick, Pat-
sy Biieti, Bernice Benjamin, and
Burton Scott.
The Sunday School is staffed
by Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Ma-
tenky and Sandra Loeb.

At Memorial Program

Beth ItzchoCk will pay tribute to
the five deceased founders of the
congregation, whose names have
been engraved on a new memo-
rial plaque, at a memorial pro-
gram at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May
3.
Rabbi Leizer Levine will be
guest speaker, and memorial_
prayers will be recited by Cantor
Hyman J. Adler.
The founders whose memories
will be honored are: Philip Ros-
enthal, Jacob Taub, Rose Levine,
Morris Levine and Morris Dero-
van.
Other deceased members whose
names will be inscribed on the
plaque . include:

Cong. Beth Tikvah Has
Educational Programs
Under the guidance of Rabbi
Leizer Levin, Cong. Beth, Tikvah,
Petoskey and Boston, will con-
duct a six-week educational pro-
gram, for "young men and their
children, beginning the Sunday
after Passover, April. 24, and con-
tinuing each Sunday morning
until Shevuot, June 2.
This second Minyan will begin
at 9:30 a.m. The procedure of
applying_ Talis and Tefilin and
the prayers will be under the
guidance of the rabbi. After the
service, breakfast will be served
by the sisterhood and ladies
auxiliary, headed by Mrs. H.
Friedman and Mrs. M. Margolis.
After breakfast, lectures will
be given by guest speakers on
various topics such as: Jewish
law, traditions, education, Israel
and Jewish history.
Eight full pages of photo-
graphs, picturing modern build-
ings designed by Detroit archi-
tect Louis G. Redstone, are the
principal feature of the March,
1949, edition of The Michigan
Architect and Engineer.
