Young Israel Groups Finish Plans
For Meetings, Dinners, Programs

The dinner was originally
scheduled at the Northwest He-
brew Congregation May 22.

of Mrs. Max Weisberg March 29,
linens, plastics, and new and used
clothing were turned in for the
Hapoel Hamizrachi in Israel. The
organization also allotted a $200
treasury contribution to augment
the materials.

The cultural committee, con-
sisting of Raye Rabinowitch, Bo-
ruch Heifgott and Leon Burg,
are in charge of planning the
program.
A new young peoples' group
has been recently organized in
Young Israel for boys and girls
15 to 18. The officers are: Zola
Tepperman, president; Shlomo
Sperka, vice president; Jackie
Levin, treasurer, and Shimon
Berris, secretary.

Bnai Moshe's Study
Group- Meets Sunday

A pre-Passover study group
consisting of parents of children
of. Bnai Moshe Religious School
will meet in the synagogue Sun-
day, April 10, to discuss details
associated with the significance
of Passover and learn about
preparations for this holiday.
The study group, inaugurated
&everal years ago by Walter Far-
ber, Bnai Moshe Religious School
director, will meet at 10:30 a.m. in
the social hall where a model
seder will be presented. -
Mrs. Arthur Selmar will speak
on "Preparing for the Passover."
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will dis-
cuss "How to Make Passover
Meaningful to Our Children." Mr.
Farber will suggest Passover
games for youngsters and lead in
singing. A question and answer
period will be directed by Rabbi
Lehrman, Mrs. Selmar and Mr.
Farber.
Members and non-members are
invited.

Congregation Bnai Moshe will
begin the obserc ance of Passover
with Siyum B'Chorim services at
7715 a.m. W.?.driesciay, April 13.
Evening services will be at 6:45
and morning devotions at 9.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will le-
liver the sermons. On the first
day Passover, Thursday, April 14,
he will speak on "The Continu-
DUS Search for Freedom." The
subject Friday the second day,
will be "The Door Post of Juda-
ism.'"
Cantor David Katzman will
lead the prayers.
On the eighth Passover day,
when Yizkor prayers are said,
the morning services will begin
at 8:30. The subject of Rabbi
Lehrman's sermon on the seventh
day is "Criteria for Emancipa-
tion," and on the eighth day he
will speak on "Memories and
Realities."

Dean Rusk Predicts
Israel's Entry to UN

WASHINGTON, D. C., (Palcor)
-Assistant Secretary of State
Dean Rusk predicted .that Israel
will be admitted to the United
Nations soon but stressed that
favorable action on Israel's appli-
cation depends upon continued
peace in the Middle East. Israel's
application has already been ap-
proved by the Security Council.

First Radio Program
In Hebrew Sponsored

The first radio program in
Hebrew is now being sponsored
by the Histadruth Ivrith of Amer-
ica over New York's Station
- WEVD. The 15-minute program
consists of Bible readings, a talk
in Hebrew by a leading personal-
ity and outstanding musical ar-
tists singing the latest Palestinian
melodies. The program is flirt-
ed by Samuel J. Citron of the
Jewish Education Committee in
New York City.
Among the outstanding Jewish
personalities who have addressed
the public in Hebrew via the pro-
gram have been Prof. Zvi Scharf-
stein, well-known educator, Prof.
Samuel K. Mirsky of Yeshiva
University, Prof. Benjamin- Ami-
era of the Hebrew University and
many others.
Histadruth Ivrith of America,
165 W. 46th St., New York, con-
ducts an extensive - program. of
activities to promote interest in
Hebrew language and culture.

Samuel Greenberg Named
Vice-Preside3t of JOC

Samuel Greenberg, president
of the Jewish, Vocational Service
of Detroit, has been elected a
vice president of the national
Jewish Occupational Council, it
was announced by. Herman A.
Gray, chairman of the JOC board.
An attorney and a director of
the Jewish Welfare Federation of
Detroit, Mr. Greenberg has repre-
sented the Detroit JVS on the
JOC Board since 1946.
