Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mondry
were honored at a farewell gath-
ering by Arlazaroff Branch of
Jewish National Workers Alli-
ance, March 30, on the eve of
their departure for Buenos Aires,
Argentina, for a visit with their
family. Mr. Mondry this week-
end is being reunited in Buenos
Aires with his brother and two
sisters whom he has not seen
for 28 years.
The Arlazaroff meeting was
featured by an address by David
Schwartz, JTA and Jewish News
colInnist, who spoke on "The
Wonder of Zionism." The most
interesting story related by Mr.
Schwartz was about the oil prob-
lem in Israel. He told how the
British had drained the oil de-
positorieS when they left. Jewish
chemists and engineers, however,
filled the tanks with water,.
caused the remaining oil to float
upward and saved enough to
carry on the essential activities
until oil could be imported.
David Sislin presided at the
Arlazaroff meeting. A reading
from Sholem Aleichem was given
by Sam Hochman.
