TEL AVIV (Palcor)L-Despite
the terrific financial burdens of
the war and the present struggle
against inflation, the Israeli gov-
ernment is going ahead with
large scale housing projects and
with a special resettlement pro-
gram for Arab fellahin (farmers),
Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan
told the Knesseth. He reported
that a "construction fund" had
been established to assist Arab
workers and to resettle the farm-
ers on the land as a means of de=
creasing Arab unemployment.
The Knesseth, after criticism
from the opposition; adopted only
one month's portion of a three
month interim budget of $16,-:
005.000 proposed by Mr. Kaplan.
Mr. Kaplan's interith budget
does not include security ex-
penditures which are secret. Ex-
cept for an additional $1,500,000
to be set aside as a general re-
serve, it is basically the same as
the budget for the previous three
months. '
The Knesseth referred the
problem of Jews in Moslem lands
to _ the Foreign Affairs and Se-
curity Committees for further
study. Prime Minister Ben Gurion
told. the Knesseth that the gov-
ernment had instructed its repre-
sentatives abroad and at the UN
to determine whether the mal-
treatment of Jews in the Arab
countries is covered by the anti-
genocide convention.
