City April 9, as "being in line
with State Department policy to
rebuild German industries as
rapidly as possible.'.'
"The solicitude of our govern-
ment for the Germans stands out
in sharp contrast to its attitude
towards the European countries
that were our Allies in the last
war," Silber declared.

the highest peak in its history
with 180 federations and welfare
funds reporting a total of $180,-
478,426 raised for overseas, na-
tional, regional and local needs.
A ,report issued by the Council
of Jewish Federations and Wel-
fare Funds after a comprehensive
survey of the 180 - communities,
showed a 29 per cent increase by
the same agencies over 1947. In
total dollars, the increase mea-
sured $40,558,322 over the $139,-
920,104 raised in 1947. The statis-
tics do not include Community
Chest income.
