Israel Sisterhood Rehearses

The March 14 meeting of the Sisterhood of Temple Israel will
be featured by an original one act Purim play, "In a Persian Palace,"
written by Mrs. Harry Landsman and directed by Mrs. William P.
Greenberg. It will be given in the Lecture Hall of the Detroit Institute
of Arts at 1:30 p.m. A luncheon at 12:30 will precede the program.

Herman S. Avrin, president of
the Northwest' Hebrew Congrega-
tion,Men's Club, announces a Pu-
rim Festival Masquerade Ball, to
be held at the synagogue social
hall, Curtis and Santa Rosa, Sun-
day evening, March 13.
Highlight of the evening will be
a skit presented by the Men's
Club and the Sisterhood, "Inter-
national Hamantashen." This
playlet was written by Mrs. Ira
G. Kaufman, who is also directing
it, with the assistance of Mrs.
Arthur Ross and Mrs. Irving•Feld-
man.
Co-chairmen for the arrange-
ments are Mr. and Mrs. Zang-
well Garber.
Fred Crissey and his orchestra
will provide the dance music.
Prizes will be awarded for the
best costumes, which will be se-
lected by the judges during the
grand march. Dress is optional.

Beth El Celebration

Purim will be celebrated in the
junior high, primary and high
school departments of the Temple
Beth Fl School this Saturday and
Sunday morning, March 12 and
13. Saturday at 10 a.m., the jun-
ior high dramatic group will pre
sent "Ring Around Haman" to
the Junior High Department.
Members of the cast are Robert
Littman, Laural Conn, Joyce
Lane, Joel Dreyer, Barnard Col-
lier, Alan Orman, Joe Ascherson,
Judy Kobler and Lois Karbel.
Following the play the children
will adjourn to their classrooms
fcr a party.
The intermediate department
dramatic group presented the
play "A Merry Purim" March 6.
This Sunday morning, this dra-
matic group will give a repeat
performance of the play before
the primary department. Mem-
bers of the cast are: Fred Korn,
Harry Kanter, Shari Stifter, Judy
Calfin, Barnard Collier, Kenneth
Collier, Jerry Gross, Stewart Et-
tinger, Paul Grant Michael Coo-
per, Marilyn Levine, Toby Korn
and Karen Mandelbaum. After
the play the children will march
to the social hall where there will
be a parade of Purim costumes.
Mrs. Jason Tickton will lead in
the singing of Purim songs in all
of the assemblies. Both Purim
.plays are under the direction of
Leonard Jaslove.
The high school Purim party is
under the direction of faculty
members Sidney Cohen, Albert
Colman and Ruben Selitsky.

Near East Peace Paved
By United Nations Action

"ExCuse Me Please, I Beg of
You," a one-act Purim play, will
be presented by the Bnai Moshe
Religious School Sunday, Mar. 13.
Madeline Belkin is directing
the play, and the cast includes:
Barbara Adel, Albert Auslander,
Gerald Bernstein, Sharon Bern-
stein, James Direnfeld, Audrey
Iczkovitz, Sandra Iczkovitz, Stan-
ley Iczkovitz, Sharon Kahn, Car-
olyn Leipsitz, Susan Leipsitz,
Robert Oppenheim, Danny Schey,
Friedelle Schrier, Martin Sweet,
Florence Weberman and Barbara,
Weiss.
Walter Farber, director of Bnai
Moshe Religious School, is in
charge of the morning program,
which will include refreshments,
Shalach Bonot (exchange of
gifts), singing and movies. In the
afternoon, the social hall will be
used for a masquerade party for
the children of Bnai Moshe and
neighborhood youngsters. Prizes
will be awarded those children
wearing the most -original Jewish
costumes.

Arrangements have been made
for a Purim party table talk by
Mesdames Samuel' Schwartz and
Gerson Bernstein. Mrs. Herman
August will read a Purim poem.
Dessert luncheon is being arrang-
ed by Mesdames Morris Ruskin
and Jacob Bernstein.
Mrs. Abe Katzman will preside
at the meeting, at which an
amendment to the by-laws will
be presented to the membership.
Mrs. Charles Robinson, chair-
man of the ceremonial nook will
feature appropriate Purim and
PasSover books and objects.

Bnai.Moshe Groups
Hold Costume Ball

The Men's Club and Sisterhood
of Cong. Bnai Moshe have joined
forces to celebrate Purim with
a costume ball (costume option-
al) Tuesday evening, March 15,
in the social hall of the syna-
gogue, Dexter and Lawrence.
Jack Qualey's orchestra will
furnish the music, and awards
will be given for best costumes.
Harry J. Gunsberg is the dance
chairman.

Bnai.David Sisterhood will pre-
sent a Purim fantasy at its open
meeting at 8:30 p. m. Monday,
March 14, at the Bnai David so-
cial hall.
Mrs. Henry Schore, entertain-
ment chairman, announces that
Mrs. Joshua Sperka will narrate
the Purim feature, with the Sis-
terhood Choral Group and Cant-
or Hyman Adler participating.
The Bnai David Girl Scout Troop
will hold their Scout iniesture.
Mrs. Morris Sandubrae and
Mrs. Morris Garber announce
that proceeds of the Sisterhood's
night of games, scheduled for
April 4, will be used for mainten-
ance of the Bnai David Religious
School.

Temple Beth El Sisterhood will
view "Fashion Futures" at 1:30
p.m. Monday, March 14. Tea will
be served after the style showing.

March 15, in the Brown Memorial
Chapel of Temple Beth El, Dr. B.
Benedict Glazer will lecture on
"Avoiding the Neurotic Pattern
for C h i l d r e n—Jewishly and
Otherwise."
The course is sponsored by the
Sisterhood and is open to Sister-
hood members, parents of Re-
ligious School students and their
friends.
