Northwest-MS School Building
Ready for Dedication March 20
Completion of the school building section of Northwest Syna-
gogue, will be celebrated at a dinner Sunday evening, March 20,
at the synagogue social hall.
The classrooms will be occupied week-days by the United
Hebrew Schools and on Sunday mornings will house the congrega-
tion's Sunday School classes. The new unit also contains a library
and small chapel.

The Congregation and the
United Hebrew Schools will co-
sponsor joint ceremonies, start-_,
ing at 2:30 p.m. celebrating the
tie-up of the two organizations.
Heads of the United Hebrew
Schools that will participate in
the ceremonies are Abe Kasle,
Bernard Isaacs and Albert Elazar.
Phillip Gilbert and Maurice Lan-
dau are - co-chairmen, represent-
ing the UHS.
Charles Charlip, Maurice Karo
and Joseph Aller head the syna-
gogue committee. Both organiza-
tions will conduct tours through
the new building. Refreshments
will be served.

The entire week before and
after Purim will witness varied
celebrations of the festival by the
congregation and children of
Temple Israel. At Purim Sab-
bath evening services Friday,
March 18, the children's choir,
composed of the pupils of grade
five, will render Purim selections.
Cantor Robert S. Tulman, Karl
Haas and the Temple Israel choir,
directed by Dan Frohman, will
present a program of traditional
Purim music. Rabbi Leon Fray
will preach on "Purim Lore."
Carl Orecklin, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Leo Orecklin, will celebrate
his Bar Mitzvah.
The pupils of the intermediate
department will hold their Purim
masquerade Sunday morning,
March 13, while the children of
the primary department will hold
their party Sunday morning
March 20. The pupils of the Sat-
urday school are holding Purim
parties arranged by their student
council.
An original Purim play, "Purim
Portrait," written cooperatively
by Mrs. Harry Landsman and
the members of the drama work
shop of Temple Israel, will be
presented , Saturday morning,
March 12. In the cast are Roslyn
Brose, Lorraine Friedman, Mich-
ael Gale, Sheldon Gantz, Judith
Green, Stephen Fishman, Judy
Jacobs, Nina Lask, • Evelyn Ja-
coby, Judy Michaelson, Susan
Rapaport, Joan Rothenberg, Ste-
phen Sarason, Judith Segal, John
Shepherd and Richard Sutkin.
The drama club will present a
play Saturday, March 19, directed
by Roberta Snyder, entitled "Shu-
san Review." In the cast will
be: Richard Gould, Sherry To-
bias, Stuart Lipshy, Herbert Pas-
tor, Vivienne Segal, Harold Fin-
stein, Judy Alzofon, Marcie Saltz,
Robert Lask, Donald Cutler,
Frances Wlofgang, Judy Oppen-
heim, Dorothy Rosenbloom, Rich-
ard Green and Nancy Klein.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 will present
"Shusan Time" March 13 and 20,
directed by Mrs. Abel Selburn.
