Mrs. Theodore I. Cooper of Collingwood Ave. will leave Feb. 22
to fly to Bombay, India, to visit her mother, Mrs. A. Racek. She
plans to be away three months. She will be entertained at a bon
voyage party Feb. 19, by Mr. and Mrs. Jack _Hyman of Sturtevant
and at family open house Sunday, Feb. 20.

from a six-week trip to Tucson and Los Angeles, where they visited
their daughter, Estelle Blumenthal.
Mrs. Herman Winkelman of Painsville, 0., has returned to her
home after an extended visit with relatives and friends in Detroit.

Harry Stiglitz of W. Euclid Ave. is vacationing in Miami Beach.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grosberg announce the wedding reception
of their daughter, Geraldine Davidson, and J. Leonard Hyman, to
be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 9 to 12 p.m., at the Italian Gardens
of the Book Cadillac Hotel. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Silber of Edison Ave. are vacationing in Miami
Beach, Florida.
Rhea Cashman of 866 Iroquois was the guest last week, in New
York, of the Cunard White Star Line, inspecting the new ship.
Caronia and other ships. While in New York, Miss Cashman attended
a meeting of the American Society of Travel Agents.

H. Levin, Mr. and Mrs. Max Unger, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rose and
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Safferin, all of Detroit; Miss Elsie Mershon of
Saginaw and Mrs. Harry Winegarden of Flint.
Lynda Borlack, April bride-elect, was honored at a dinner and
miscellaneous shower given at the Wilshire Hotel, Feb. 9, by
Mesdames Earl Casden, Max Green and Louis Hortick.
Mrs. Sally Lambert Brown of the Lee Crest Apt. left on Thurs-
day by plane for Los Angeles, Calif., where she will spend a fortnight
visiting with friends.
Mrs. David J. Levy of Boston Blvd. sailed from New York on
Tuesday on the S. S. Mauretania for Nasau, B. I., and upon her
return will spend a few weeks in Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis K. Lambert of Whittier Ave., Grosse Pointe,
_left on Thursday for Califorhia, from where they will go on to Hawaii.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving T. Oberfelder of Canterbury Rd. have re-
turned from a fortnight's visit ip Alcupulco, Mexico, where they
were guests at the Reforma Casa Blanca. With them in Mexico were
Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Peiser of Philadelphia.

Bnai Brith Adopts
$1,070,000 Budget

CINCINNATI, (JTA) — A $1,-
070,000 budget was adopted by
the Bnai Brith national executive
committee for the organization's
far-flung 1949 program, including
the maintenance of Hillel founda-
tions, youth work and vocational
service. The action was taken at
the final session of the executive
committee's annual meeting.
Membership stands at 319,000
men and women, and 63 new
men's lodges have been formed.
The body decided to hold the or-
ganization's 1950 triennial con-
vention in Washington, D. C. It
endorsed the Joint Defense Ap-
peal's current drive for $6,826,000
for the civic defense activities of
the Anti-Defamation League and
the American Jewish Committee.
During the sessions a banquet
was held to celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the establishment
of the Bnai Brith lodge. in Cin-
cinnati and to honor its honorary
president, Alfred M. Cohen.

Maimonides Women
Plan March 16 Event
To Aid Benefit Projects

Wednesday, March 16, has been
set as the date for the annual
luncheon and fashion show of
the Women's Auxiliary of the
Maimbnides Medical Society.

purchasing artificial limbs for
disabled Israeli soldiers. In addi-
tion, a scholarship at Wayne
University will be provided for
a Jewish medical student.

A demonstration meeting for
the 11 crews who will participate
in the program of workers' train-
ing for the Women's Division of
the 1949 Jewish Allied Jewish
Campaign will be held at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 23, according to
Mrs. Leonard H. Weiner, chair-
man of the workers' training com-
mittee. The meeting is scheduled
for the conference room of the
Jewish Community Center.
The demonstration is designed
to train 60 women who will ap-
pear at more than 30 meetings
in the next few weeks, to conduct
panel discussions on the tech-
niques of solicitation, and orienta-
tion for this year's needs and ob-
jectives.
Assisting Mrs. Weiner in set-
ting up this program are Mrs.
Arthur S. Purdy, co-chairman,
and the following committee
members: Mesdames Joseph G.
Fenton, Benjamin Jaffe, Julian
H. Krolik, Jerome Mark, Alex-
ander W. Sanders, Joseph Fenton.
