Youths' Art Show
Opens on Tuesday
In Center Lounge

. Formal opening of the first
exhibit of - the work of young
i Tewish artists will take place at
8:3 0 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in the
'Ginsburg Lounge of the Jewish
enter. ,
The exhibit is under sponsor-
ship of the Jewish YOung Adult
CoUncil.
Judges of the exhibit include
Mrs. Arthur Bloom, chairman of
the Jewish Center art committee;
Helen Copley, 'art . department
director, Detroit Board of Edu-
cation; Pearl Gearson, director,
Gearson Memorial School; Sarkis
Sarkisian, director, Society of
Arts and Crafts; Zolton Sepeschy,
director, Cranbrook Academy of
Arts.
Arrangements for the exhibit
and judging were made by a
Council committe which included
Natalie Gaines, Alfred Gaines,
Saul Glosser, Bill Fitzerman,
Ilene Rosen and Annette Zeid-
man.
The exhibit will be open to the
public Feb. 15 through 22. Young
adults are particularly invited to
view it.

Northwest Youth Devote
Efforts to Third Edition
- Of Night 'Club Dance

All resources of the Young
Peopl(fCs Club of the Northwest
Hebrew Congregation are being
utilized in preparation. of the
third edition of "Club Northwest"
Sunday evening, Feb. 27.
The floor show will feature Al
Vinochur, . comedy emcee; Bill
Felsenfeld's pantomimicry; Gerry
TaMes and Herbie Hochberg in
a- fencing demonstration; songs
by Milt Burg, and Dave Metz's
impersonations. Dancing will be
to the Music of Al Moser's
Swingtet.
The. YPS alSO is preparing an-
other in its- series of youth Sab-
bath • eve services for Friday,
March 4.

The Bnai Brith Young Women's
Council of Detroit and Windsor
will hold its annual fund raising
affair Saturday, March 26, at
Northwest Synagogue, Curtis at
Santa Rosa.
The affair, "Spring. Dance," will
feature Mickey Woolf and his or-
chestra.
Highlight of the evening will
be the final. judging of the win-
ners of Danny Raskin's annual
beauty-personality contest. Chair-
man of the dance, Sara Lee Eich-
ler, reports that celebrated per-
sonalities of the city will be pres-
ent to judge the contest.

Toboggan Party Planned

The Young People's Club of
Cong. Bnai Moshe has elected the
following officers:
President, Ernie Weiss; vice
president, Gerald Licht; recording
secretary, Dianne New; treasurer,
Donald Rosman, and correspond-
ing secretaries, Marilyn Budd
and Lila Rosen.
A toboggan party has been ar-
ranged fcir club members and
their friends Sunday, Feb. 13, to
be followed by a social in the
evening at the synagogue at
which there will be dancing and

The Young People's Club of

final arrangements for its Val-
entine Dance, to be held at
Temple Beth El, Sunday, Feb. 13.
Virginia Barnett, president of
the YPC, announced that a five
piece band would be on hand to
furnish music. Miss Barnett also

Detroit Delegates Help
Organize Area Council;
YAC Chairmen Named

Six representatives of the De-
troit Jewish Young Adult Coun-
cil are in Akron this weekend to
help organize one of the four
area ,c ouncils of the recently-
formed Midwest Young Adult
Council.
Other cities participating are
Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Columbus
and Cleveland.
The next YAC delegates meet-
ing will be held at 8 p. m. Mon-
day. Feb. 28, at the Jewish Cen-
ter. A board meeting is scheduled
for Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20:
The Council membership corn-
mittee announces acceptance of
the following young adult groups
as Council constituents: Mu Beta
Chi fraternity; Temple Israel
Youth; Labor Zionist Organiza-
tion, Branch 11, and Bnai Brith
Young Women's Greater Detroit
Council.
Eleanor Heilbronner has been
appointed chairman of the Coun-
cil's interfaith committee, which
is planning a workshop on tech-
niques of interfaith work. Freda
Gantz has been named chairman
of the Council publicity commit-
tee.

s Israel's Future Is Topic
Of Masada Discussion

Masada's highlight meeting of
the month, Thursday, Feb. 24,
will feature as guest speaker
Prof. Preston Slosson of the Uni-
versity of Michigan, Dr. Sam
Krohn, president, reminds mem-
bers.
This Tuesday evening, Mas-
ada's class at the Shaarey Zedek
adult institute will feature a dis
cussion on the future prospects
of Israel. Dr. S. Joseph Fauman
will direct the meeting.
On Feb. 23, Dr. Joseph Eaton
of Wayne University will be Mas-
ada's guest at , a political action
meeting.

Young Married Couples
Organize Club at Center

Young married couples, partic-
ularly newcomers to Detroit, are
invited to participate in the
activities of the' newly-organized
married couples club at Jewish
Center.
The club meets Thursday eve-

be held at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb.
12, in the social hall of the syna-
gogue.
Mickey - Woolf and his orchestra
will play for dancing, and an
hour of entertainment will fea-
ture talent from the group.
Chairman Hal Schniederman
has announced that a' cabaret
atmosphere will be provided by
arrangement of tables for refresh-
ments on the dance floor.
