Participate in United
Synagogue Sabbath

Congregations Shaarey Zedek,
Bnai Moshe and the Northwest
Hebrew Congregation will par-
ticipate in United Synagogue Sab:-
bath, which will be observed by
more than 425 conservative con-
gregations throughout the United
States and Canada Saturday,
Feb. 19.
That Sabbath marks the 35th
anniversary of the United Syna-
gogue, founded by the late Dr.
Solomon Schechter.
Rabbis Morris Adler, Jacob E.
Segal and Moses Lehrman, all
graduates of the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary, will preach to
their congregations on "The Syn-
agogue Faces the Future."

`Physician and Sorcerer'
Is. Eternal Light Drama

The Eternal Light's next offer-
ing will be an original radio dra-
matization written by Alan Mar-
cus, entitled "The Physician and
the Sorcerer," on Sunday, Feb. 13.
It will be heard at 12:30 p.m. on
station WTCB, Flint, and will be
transcribed by station WWJ for
rebroadcast at 8 a.m. Sunday,
Feb. 20.

Leon Fram of Temple Israel to
exchange pulpits with them.
Rev. John W. Parrish of Saint
James Methodist Church will
occupy the pulpit of Temple
Israel Friday, Feb. 18, and Rabbi
Fram will preach at Saint James
Methodist Church Sunday, Feb.
27. Rabbi Fram will occupy
the pulpit of Rev. John Wilfred
Greenwood of Calvary Methodist
Church Sunday, Feb. 20, while
Rev. Greenwood will occupy
Rabbi Fram's pulpit on a Friday
night in March. Reverend Char-
les F. Goudey of Brewster Pil-
grim Congregational Church and
Rabbi Fram will exchange pul-
pits later this year.

The fourth of the series of
adult study classes conducted by
Rabbi Moses Lehrman of Cong.
Bnai Moshe will be held on Mon-
day, Feb. 14. Mrs. Arthur Rob-
bins, social worker and educator,
will be guest lebturer at the ses-
sion at 11 a.m. The evening
classes will be at 8 and 9 p.m.

American Jewry's new role in
building a strong Jewish cultural
center was outlined in an in-
spiring address delivered here
on Feb. 3, at the Shaarey Zedek,
by Dr. Solomon Goldman of
Chicago, who spoke in behalf of
Miie Jewish Theological Seminary
of America.
Rabbi Goldman described the
progress made by the Seminary
and its affiliated organizations
in advancing Jewish cultural
values and paid honor to 'Dr.
Louis Ginzberg of the Seminary
whose creative work — Legends
of the Jews and Commentary on
Talmud Yerushalmi — revolu-
tionized the creative efforts of
American' Jewry.
Rabbi Morris Adler presided
at the- meeting. ,Speakers in-
cluded two other Seminary grad-
uates, Rabbis Jacob Segal and
Moses • Lehrman. The meeting
was sponsored by Congregations
Shaarey Zedek, Bnai Moshe and
Northwest Congregation, in sup-
port of the local drive to sup-
port the Seminary. Samuel
Solomon and Louis Berry, both
of whom appeared on the pro-
gram, are co-chairmen of the
drive. -
