Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rose of Fairfield Ave. are vacationing in
Miami Beach, Fla.
`,Miss Mildred Medalie and her mother, Mrs. N. Medalie of Man-
celona, Mich. are guests at the Belcrest for the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hopfeld of Warrington Rd. are spending some
time in Miami Beach, Fla.
Miss Harriet Simon of the Wilshire Apt. left on Saturday by
plane to. spend a fortnight in Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Atlin of Dexter Blvd. are spending a few
weeks in. Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr: and Mrs. Kenneth Morris have moved from Whitmore Rd.
and are now residing in their n,ew home at 10124 Ludlow, Hunting-
ton Woods.
Mr. and Mrs. David Stone of Chicago Blvd. are spending a month
in • California.
. Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Rice of the Belcrest left for Miami,Beach,
Fla., where they will spend the winter months.
Mrs. Benjamin Baum of Windsor left on Sunday for Toronto,
where she will visit with friends.
Harry Alpert of Dickerson Ave. is spending a few weeks in
Boston visiting with members of his family.
Mr. and -Mrs. Eli Robinson are spending a few months in Miami
Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Ike Zide of Hazelwood Ave. have left-for Los An-
geles. where they will spend the winter months.
Harry G. Bradlin was host at a supper party for Seymour Lipkin
following the young pianist's concert Jan. 25. Bradlin also was host
to a number of guests at the Minneapolis Symphony concert. Jan. 24.
Claire Ettinger of Chicago Blvd. has as her week-end guest
Melvin Jones of Ohio.
• Mrs. Norman P. Greene entertained at a spinster dinner at her
home on Chicago Blvd. in`honor of her sister-in-law, Fayanne Green-
blatt, whose marriage to Norman William Kaufman will take place
Feb. 8. Other pre-nuptial affairs were given by Mr. and Mrs. Eli
Warren of Flint, Mesdames Jack Kaufman, David Stober, Samuel
Grenadier, Julian Philips, Norman Jasen, I. Nagelberg, Joe Sandler,

Saturday evening at their home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Levine of. Cortland Ave. have returned
from a two-week stay at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York,
where Mr. Levine was associated with the General Motors auto-
mobile show.
Honoring Bernice Adler of Clements Ave. and Leonard Blumen-
reich of New York, on their approaching wedding, Dr. and Mrs.
_ Martin Naimark of Roselawn Ave. held a dinner party at their home
Jan. 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Kolman Shapiro of Wildemere Ave. left to spend
the remainder of the winter in Tuscon, -Ariz. Their son, Melvin, is
spending his mid-semester vacation visiting- his sister and brother-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Siegi of Mt. Vernon, N. Y.

Goldman Installs Son
In New Lodge Chair

DENVER, Colo.—For the first
time in the 105-year history of
Bnai Brith, a national president
of that organization has installed
his own son as- head of a local
Bnai Brith lodge.:Frank Goldman,
president of Bnai Brith, came
from his home in Lowell, Mass.,
to install his youngest son, Ed-
ward, as the first president of
the newly - organized Mile - Hi
Lodge here. It is Denver's sec-
ond lodge, and consists of young-
er men, many World War II vet-
erans, including Goldman.

At Testimonial Dinner

A large attendance marked the
testimonial dinner given by
Cong. Bnai Moshe' Jan. 30 in
honor of Cantor David Katzman,
on his completion of 10 years of
service to the congregation.
Rabbis Moses Lehrman and
Moses Fischer delivered the
principal addresses. Rabbi Max
J. Wohlgelernter; Sam Freedman,
President of the congregation;
Mrs. David Krause, president of
the Sisterhood, and Mrs. David
Bernstein, dinner chairman,
spoke greetings.
The Detroit Cantors' Associa-
tion took part in the program.

Yale President Speaks
For Hillel Anniversary .

NEW HAVEN, Conn. Presi-
dent Charles Seymour . of Yale
University will Speak at a ,dinrier
Meeting Sunday, Feb. - 13, marking
the 25th anniversary of the estab-
lishment of Hillel Foundations in
America, it was announced by,
Rabbi Samuel Sandmel-, director
of the Yale Hillel- Foundation.
The observance of the anniver-
sary of the Foundation . will in- -
dude exhibitions of Yale Judaica,
Research on the Rabinowitz:
Foundation in the Yale Library
and the Art Gallery will show
the -synagogue restoration frOm
the Dura-Europos excavations. in
the Middle East. Paul Weiss, pro-
fessor of philosophy at. Yale, will
speak on "The Good Life." .

W. Temchin were named Beth
Yehudah co-chairmen of the
seventh annual patroris' dinner.
The "Chai" . ($18. per plate) ban-
quet is scheduled for March 27
at Northwest Synagogue.
The solicitor of each ten tick-
ets will receive an honorary
scholarship certificate of the
Beth' Yehudah Schools, covering
yearly tuition for a needy stu-
dent.
_ At the Y,eshivath Beth Yehu-
dah graduation ceremonies held
Jan. 23, Joel Sperka and Allen
Traurig were valedictorians for
the elementary and intermed-
iate graduates, respectively. Each
received a scholarship medal
from Max Somberg, president of
the Parent-Teachers Association.
Maurice Grosbard and Ernest
Buehler received good citizen-
ship medals from the Joseph L.
Bale post of the Jewish War Vet-
erans. Presentation was made
by post commander Jerome
Baseman.
The first 12th grade gradua-
tion of the Beth Yehudah
Schools will be held in June.

Mrs. Wadel Heads
Women's UJA Drive

Mrs. Ernest G. Wadel of Dallas,
Tex., has been named chairman
of the National Women's Division
of the $250,000,000 United Jewish
Appeal to mobilize America's 2,-
000,000 Jewish women in a drive
to raise "record sums" on behalf
of the world-wide relief, resettle-
ment and rebuilding programs of
the UJA, Rabbi Jonah B. Wise,
Herman Weisman and William
Rosenwald, national UJA chair-
men, announced.
Mrs. David M. Levy, New York,
who served as first chairman of
the National Women's Division
in 1946 and 1947; has accepted
the post of honorary chairman for
the second successive year.
