Israel Rises to Full Stature

Jewry Blesses U.S., Truman for
Paving Hard Road to Justice

Israel's bent back has straightened to full stature. Centuries
of sufferings have ended. After less than eight- and a half months
of independence, the Jewish State now is a nation among nations,
with the virtual assurance that Israel soon will be admitted to
membership in the United Nations. Completion of the cycle of
Israel's attainment of complete and unouestioned nationhood
came when President Truman granted de jure recognition to
Israel.
Jews throughout the world are offering thanks to the United
States and to President Truman for having led the reborn state
along the path of worldwide recognition. Blessings for the great
events are being offered wherever there are Jews and synagogues
everywhere will resound with blessings and praise for the great
President of the United States on this Sabbath.
- President Truman is being likened to King Cyrus of Persia
who, 2,500 years ago, facilitated the return of Jews to Eretz Israel.
