JWV Ball Booklet
Will Honor Families
Of Deceased Veterans

Harold Podolsky, chairman of
the Jewish War Veterans' Mili-
tary Ball, announces that the
souvenir book to be distributed
at the ball will be dedicated to
the widows and families of de-
ceased veterans.
The ball will take place Feb. 19
at Masonic Temple.
Funds raised will help to carry
on the following projects:
Rehabilitation and entertain-
ment, programs at the veterans'
*hospitals, social service work
with families of hospitalized and
needy veterans reburial services
for Jewish -soldiers killed in ac-
tion, educational activities to pro-
mote Americanism - and combat
anti-Semitism.

Seymour Lipkin, noted pianist
whose popularity has extended
beyond the borders of this coun-
try, will make his only Detroit
appearance this year as soloist
Tuesday evening, Jan. 25, at the
Art Institute. The concert is
sponsored by the Tuesday Musi-
cale. Lipkin is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. Ezra Lipkin of Detroit.

Boys Preparatory, Inc. has been
selected as the title of the non-
profit mechanical trades school
for boys which is being organized
at the instigation of Louis Moser.
Membership 'rates were estab-
lished at $10 for regular mem-
bers, $5 for associate members..
Douglas B. Crane was named
counsel for the corporation and
John B. Coyle, chairman of the
board. Directors include William
Pinkerton, Vincent E. Gumble-
ton, Leon B. Kay, Karl B. Segal,
Leonard Kasle, Clifford, Baugh,
L. Montgomery, and Frederick E.
Searle.

Delegate to Israel Wks
Foreign Policy President

The Foreign Policy Association,
the private non-profit research
organization specializing in pub-
lic education in international re-
lations, has supplied 16 men and
women from its staff to the State
Department and other American
foreign affairs agencies, and two
of its former presidents are serv-
ing the United States as chairman
of the Far. Eastern Commission
and President Truman's personal
representative to the Israel gov
ernment, Dr. Brooks Emeny, pres-
ident of the association, an-
nounced.
The former presidents are Ma-
jor General Frank R. McCoy,
U. S. A., retired, of the Far East-
ern. Commission and Jaines G.
McDonald, the American repre-
sentative in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Nathan Ausubel, author of "A
Treasury of Jewish Folklore," in
an address at the Jewish Center
I on Monday- evening urged par-
ents to.-instill in their children a
knowledge and love for Jewish
cultural values. This is the best
way of fighting anti-Semitism,
he stated, deploring the injection
of fear over anti-Jewish incidents
in the minds of young people.
Mr. Ausubel spoke before the
American Jewish \Congress on
Wednesday evening, addressed a
group at the home of the Louis
Redstones on Thursday night and
spoke in Grand Rapids last Fri-
day evening. He was taken on a
tour of the Ford plant on Tues-
day through the courtesy of Al-
fred May.
This Friday, Mr. Ausubel will
address the Jewish Center Work-
ers at noon and will speak before
the Sholem Aleichem groups in
the evening.
