Culminates Drive
At Dance Sunday
Junior Hadassah will culmin-
ate its membership drive at a
tea dance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 9, at the Jewish Community
Center. Lillian Adolph is chair-
man.
A program has been planned
and refreshments will be served.
All young adults are invited. New

Drive to Aid Nitzanim

To Be Reviewed
Half of the local Masada goal
of $2,000 to aid in the rebuilding
of Nitzanim, settlement in the
Negev overrun by the Arabs, al-
ready has bedn dispatched to
Israel, it was announced this
week: •
Evaleen Budnitzsky, drive
chairman, said the sum of $1,000
was obtained from volunteer
contributions of a dozen Masada
members.
– Nitzanim, - a General Zionist
settlement, is located near the
Egyptian border and was the
center of savage fighting in the
first months of the Israeli battle
for survival. All but seven men
who escaped, and 25 who were
captured, were killed in the bat-
tle.

Dr. Sam Krohn, Masada presi-
dent, announced that at the next
meeting, Jan. 20, at Shaarey Ze-
dek, - there will be a mock elec-
tion based on the vote to be held
in Israel on Jan. 25.
Major amendments to the
Young Adult Constitution will
be considered at the Council dele-
gates' meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sun-
day, Jan. 23, at the Jewish Cen-
ter.
At the same time, the dele-
gates will discuss plans for pro-
grams and projects for the -re-
mainder of the year.
The Council is planning an
extensive program of leadership
training for young adults, in the
form of concentrated study of
Jewish background and prob-
lems, and as a series of week-
end institutes on group leader-
ship techniques. One of the in-
stitutes will deal with the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
The Council publicity commit-
tee announces that question-
naires have been sent out to all
affiliated youth groups, asking
details on the organizations' his-
tory, purposes and program. The
results , of these questionnaires
will be compiled
in a comprehen-

sive brochure on the Jewish
young adult community of
Detroit.

The first annual exhibit of
original works by young Jewish
artists will be held at the Jewish
Center Feb. 13 to 20, under the
auspices of the Young Adult
Council.
Jewish artists 18 to 30 may
submit entries, not later than
Feb. 1, at the Center. Works will
be judged by a jury appointed
