daughter, Muriel Felice, to Leon-
ard Viner, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Viner of Washington,
D. C., and Miami
Beach, Fla. Miss
Segal is a grand-
daughter of Mrs.
Benjamin Lan-
dau and the late';
Mr. Landau, and
a great-g r a n d-
daughter of Mrs.
Regina Margare-
ten. She attend-
ed Knox School
Miss Segal
in Cooperstown,
N. Y., and ',studied at Columbia
University and' the Dramatic
Workshop . of the New School.
She was graduated from the Uni-
versity of Arizona. Mr. Viner at-
tended the Pennsylvania Military
Academy in Chester, Pa., and is
a graduate of the University of
Pennsylvania. During the recent
war, he worked for the Federal
Bureau of Investigation. He is
active in leading philanthropic
organizations in Washington.

A comprehensive program of
assistance for Jewish immigrants,
the majority of them displaced
persons, reaching the United
States in 1949 will be formulated
by American Jewish leaders from
all sections of the country at the
second annual conference of
United Service for New Ameri-

cans which will be held at the
Biltmore Hotel in New York, Jan.
8 and 9, it was - announced by
Etiwin Rosenberg, president of
United Service. Abraham Srere
of Detroit is a member of the
planning committee for the meet-
ing.

Five of the 39 assistants ap-
pointed by Gerald K. O'Brien,
Wayne County, Prosecuting At-
torney-elect, are practicing Jew-
ish attorneys—Leonard Simons,
George D. Kent, Arthur L. Rob-
bins, Nathan J. Kaufman and
David E. Flayer.
Kent was born in Detroit, Sept.
26. 1916. He is a graduate of
Wayne University and Detroit
College of Law where he was
vice-president of the graduating
class in 1940. He is married to
the former Jennie Levin and they
have two daughters, 5 years and
nine month old. He served over-
seas during World War II, was
wounded in the head and right
arm and was hospitalized for 10
months at Percy Jones Hospital.
He received the following medals:
Purple Heart, Combat Infantry
Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Vic-
tory Award, European Theater
Ribbon with three battle stars.
He previously served as enforce-
itpent and trial attorney for the
National War Labor Board. He
is a member of DoWntown Lodge
Bnai Brith, Jewish War Veterans,
Military Order of Purple Heart,
Veterans of Foreign Wars and
Disabled War Veterans.
Kaufman is 40, married and has
one daughter. He has practiced
law for 19 years, is affiliated with
labor and other organizations and
formerly was a member of the
Wayne Prosecutor's staff.
Simons, 40, a native Detroiter,
also practiced law for 19 years
and formerly was in charge of

Prosecutor's office. He is one of
the counsel to the Wayne County
Grievance Committee of the
Michigan Association, is a mem-
ber of Perfection Lodge, F.&A.M.,
the Shrine and Consistory, Law-
yers' Guild, Detroit Bar Associa-
tion, Michigan Showmen's Asso-
ciation and other organizations.
Flayer, who was born in De-
troit 44 years ago, practiced law
for 20 years. He is graduate of
the University of Michigan and
Detroit College of Law, is mar-
ried and resides at 2480 W. Eu-
clid. He is a member of Ashler
F.&-A.M., Detroit Consistory, Mos-
lem Temple, Square Club, Cinema
Bnai Brith Lodge and Variety
Club.
Robbins will be chief of the
civil division on O'Brien's staff,
a post he held from 1944 to 1946.
Born in Mt. Carmel, Pa., in 1908,
he was graduated from Wayne
Law School. He is married and
has two children. He is a mem-
ber of the Detroit Bar grievance
committee, Congregation Shaarey

Brith; American Jewish Congress
and is vice-president of Detroit
Lawyers Guild chapter.
