nied Hebrew Schools to Stage
Hanukah Pageant Wednesday;
All Branches Schedule Programs

The United Hebrew Schools
will celebrate Hanukah with a
large pageant at Central High
School's auditorium on Wednes-
day, Dec. 29, at 8 p.m.
The program, called "Lights of
Dedioation," is divided into three
parts:
1. "Darkness and Light," in-
cluding a verse recitation by
members of Class 4-B, Rose Sittig
Cohen Branch; Mrs. Beatrice
Kriechman, teacher; the lighting
of Hanukah candles and singing
of Hanukah songs by the school
choir whose members are se-
lected from all branches of the
Hebrew System. Choir soloists
are Harold Fellows, Leroy Lip-
son, Robert Wolf, Nelson Magid-
man, Sharon Zack and - Merle
Goldstone.

2. The younger children'S pro-
gram, to include Hanukah dances
by the kindergarten of the Cen-
tral High Branch, Yaffa .Epstein,
teacher; S'vivon, a Hebrew reci-
tation by Class 1-B of David W.
Simons Branch, • Drora Selesny,
teacher; HaS'vivon, a Hebrew
Playlet by Class 2-B, Rose Sittig
Cohen Branch, Mrs. Beatrice
Kreichman, teacher.
3. A pageant in 11 • scenes
called "The Beckoning Light of
Erez Yisrael," by Shirley Subar
Sklash. The narrator • is Paul
Richman. s In the cast are:
Richard Brown, Vicki ' Lebow,
Shulamith Laikin, Harold Sha-
pero, Eva Tennenbaum,' Myron
George, Moshe Zeitlan, Edward
Kroll, Arthur Oleinick and David
Appel. The choir of the Bagley
Branch will be part of the pag-
eant with Geraldine Posen and
Patsy Lieberman as soloists, and
the senior girls dance group will.
perform. Members of this group
a r e: Ursula. Sitzman, Annie
Guyer, Barbara Eisenberg, Bev-
erly Simons, Shirley Schechter,
Vivian Somberg, Hilda Schech-
ter, Esther Chodak, Gail Smolin-
sky, Frances Malach, - Gloria
Moore, Dorothy Feinberg, Sonia
Ploshnick, Charlotte S h a p s o n,
Faith Greenbaum, Esther Eisen-
stat and Elissa Panush. Soloists
are Vivian Somberg and. Dorothy
Feinberg. In the last scene, the
school and the Bagley choirs of
120 voices will sing together.
• Mrs. Sklash Directs Plays
The program is directed by
Shirley Subar . Sklash; the stage
engineer is Yehuda Golansky, as-
sisted by Levi G-ura and Sholom
Levitt. Alex Roberg, principal of
Parkside Hebrew School, is in
charge of tickets a n d ushers.
Others assisting are, Mrs. Use
Roberg, David Rappaport and
Mrs. Stein.
Each branch of the United He-
brew Schools will have a Hanu-
kah party and program arranged
by the Parents-Teachers Organi-
zations in cooperation with the
principals and dramatics teach-
ers.
At the Rose Sittig Cohen
Branch, on Sunday morning, the
dramatics presentations are un-
der the direction of Mrs. Beatrice
Kriechman. The Parent-Teachers
Organization will serve latkes
and present gifts to the children.
The PTO president is Mrs. Jano-
wer; treasurer; Mrs. -G. Jacobs;
Mrs. Silverman, Mrs. Stewart and
Mrs. Grosberg, Hanukah commit-
tee. S. Kasdan is principal, - and
Mrs. Harold Goodman represents
the teachers in an advisory ca-
pacity.
The David W. Simons Branch
will have its program on Mon-
day. It includes a Hebrew playlet
by A. Schachter. The .dramatics
group, -under the direction of
Dora Selesny, will perform a
play by Sholem Aleichem. Morris
La.chover, .principal, will speak.
Parents in charge of the affair
are: Mesdames A. Buchalter,
Magid, Sherman, Parker, Sulkes
and Order. Latkes will be served
and there will be gifts for the
children. —
At the. Parkside Branch, Mrs.
Hyams is in charge of dramatics,
Mrs. Abe Katzman is ptesident of
PTO. The program, to take place
Monday, will include refresh-
ments and - gifts. Alex Roberg is
principal of the branch.
Philadelphia-BYron Branch will
have its program on Monday
J orning. The parents in charge

are Mesdames Kaplan Sasson,
Appel, Miller, Kaligowsky, Ber-
lin, Garvin and Kasky. The Cen-
tral High Branch., will join with
the Philadelphia-Byron School in
the celebration.

The Central PTO Branch will
hold a celebration Monday at 8
p.m. - at the Rose Sittig ,Cohen
Building: The officers are Mes-
dames H. M. Gerenraich, Sol
Ellis, Sharkey and N. Thay. Mr.
Ruttenberg, principal, end Albert
Elazar, associate director of the
United Hebrew Schools, will
speak.

Local Musicians' List
Compiled. by Council

A list of local musicians who
can perform for Jewish organiz-,
ations is being compiled by the
Jewish Community Council mu-
sic advisory committee. Mem-
bers of the committee are Law-
rence Crohn, chairman, Mrs. Sol
Q. Kesler, Mrs. Edith Sauls and
Julius Chajes.
Letters are being sent to De-
troit vocal and .instrumental
artists asking if they will be
available for this type of service.
Organizations wishing to have
a musical program then will be
able to call the Council office
to make the necessary . arrange-
ments. An announcement will be,
made when the list is ready for
use.

Camp Nahelu to Hold Reunion on Sunday

Camp Nahelu will hold its 19th
annual campers' reunion at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 26, at the Jewish
Center.
