Ben Rosenthal Honored by Labor
Zionists on His 60th Birthday

Detroit's labor Zionists cur-
rently are honoring one of their
pioneer leaders—Ben, Rosenthal—
on the occasion of his 60th birth-
day.
Unassuming, hard-working for
the cause of a rebuilt Israel, Mr.
Rosenthal has held some of the
most important offices in labor
Zionism.
A charter member of Poale Zion
Branch 3, he has devoted his
efforts to the cause of labor Zion-

ism and its affiliated group—the
Jewish National Workers' Alli-
ance (Farband). He served two
terms as president of Arlazaroff
Branch of JNWA and at present
is a member of its executive com-
mittee.
For several terms, he held the
office of president of the Farband
Folk Schools and continues to
serve as a member of the schools'
board.
He also is very active in the
Farband Camp, has served for 12
years as a member of the camp

Contests Dec. 25-29

planned for the Michigan Re-
gional Council annual AZA tour-
nament scheduled Dec. 25 to 29
in Detroit. The tournament will
coincide with the 25th anniver-
sary of AZA.
Chapters in East Lansing, Kal-
amazoo, Grand Rapids, Benton
Harbor, Flint, Saginaw, Mt.
Clements and Pontiac are ex-
pected to send delegations, in
addition to the Detroit groups.

A four-point program of buy-
ing and selling U. S. Savings
Bonds was adopted by the De-
partment - of Michigan, Jewish
War Veterans. •
Department Commander Har-
old F. Moran announced that a
special citation from the Treasury
department would be awarded to
posts and auxiliaries when a
majority of the membership is
actively participating in the four-
point program: (1) To get mem-
bers to sign up on the payroll
savings plan or the Bond-a-Month
plan; (2) To get firms represented
in the membership to promote
actively the payroll plan; (3) To
get firms represented in the
membership to make savings
bond advertising part of their
regular schedules; (4) to get more
members to volunteer to help the
savings bond committee for the
City of Detroit.

For Girls at Tantakwa

Camp Tamakwa will hold a re-
