David Ben-Gurion Says:
Israel Wishes Jewish National
Fund to Continue Its Efforts
JERUSALEM (JTA)—The government of Israel
wishes the Jewish National Fund to "carry on its con-
structive work" and "will.lend it all assistance," Premier
David Ben-Gurion declared in a message he cabled to
the 24th annual conference of the Jewish National Fund
in Great Britain now taking place in London.
"With the establishment of the state of Israel, the
significance of the Zionist Organization and of its funds
has not been decreased but increased," the message said.
"The great possibilities for immigration and land settle-
mentin Israel cannot be carried out without the full
cooperation of the Jewish people at large. The historic
task of the Jewish National Fund to root the Jewish
masses in the soil of the homeland can now be carried
out in full.
"The government of Israel will lend all assistance
to the Jewish National Fund as far as acquisition of
land, its reclamation and development for close settle-
ment are concerned. It is incumbent upon the Jewish
people to provide the Jewish National Fund with the
necessary financial means so that it may be able to carry
on its constructive work. The JNF will remain, as
hitherto, the link between the Jewish people in the
Diaspora and the independent nation of Israel," the
Israeli premier emphasized.
Negro Editor Appeals to Bunche
For Fair Deal to State of Israel
Ulysses W. Boykin, editor of
the Detroit Tribune, one of the
leading Negro weekly newspapers
in the country, on Dec. 3 pub-
lished an editorial in the form of
an open letter to Dr. Ralph
)Bunche, acting UN Palestine
Anediator, appealing to him to as-
•sist in establishing a free Jewish
State in Israel. The editorial
'reads:
Pear Doctor Bunche:
The Negro people in the United
States are very proud over the
fact that you now hold the high-
est position ever held by a Negro
in the American government., to
say nothing of the diplomatic
service: Such feeling among us
is understandable. The fight for
the full and unconditional equal-
ity of Negro citizens means break-
ing down the barriers to any and
all opportunities and positions for
Negroes.
To many of us you hold one of
the most important positions on
the international scene. You have
as acting UN mediator, an oppor-
tunity to assist in assuring secur-
ity for the youngest state in the
world—Israel—a state that came
into being as a result of the
refusal of a persecuted people to
remain under the heel of oppres-
sors.
• Israel represents the greatest
triumph in the battle for freedom
in modern times. Jewry's struggle
for liberty has had many ob-
stacles. Great Britain stood and
still stands in the way of the
ultimate realization of the historic
aim of the Jewish people ,which
is rooted in Prophecy.
The redemption of Israel would
certainly help the Arab people.
This these people knoW, but their
Chieftains are - the biggest ob-
jectors to the enforcement of
freedom because it is against the
perpetuation of feudalism.
You have a great chance of
emerging as a defender of the
liberties of the downtrodden.
An article in the New York
Post on Nov. 10 reported from
Paris that you had informed the
United Nations ,Security Council
during a current secret session
on Palestine that the objective of
your new "armistice" plan "was
to stop Israel 'before the Arabs
get any weaker."
If this is true, it is shocking
news. It means that Israel would
be. penalized in order that the
feudal lordships of Arabdoin
should be perpetuated.
_Even though you have a heavy
responsibility to the best inter-
ests of peace of the world you
have within your power an op-
portunity to show to an op-
pressed people that you know
how to protect the rights of an-
other oppressed peofle.
It is our sincere hope that you
will act firmly in accordance with
UN decisions to facilitate the
security of the State of Israel
whose factual existence you have
already affirmed.

Israel is emerging victorious in
many fields. You can save 'the
honor of the UN now by giving
Israel the help it needs.
The Negro people have been
inspired by the struggle of the
long persecuted Jewish people.
Never before has there been a
need for all minorities to work
together for a Free America and
a Free Israel.

Einstein Leads Group
In Denouncing Beigin's
Israel Party as Fascist
The charge that top leaders of
American Zionist organizations
had refused to expose the activ-
ities of Menachem Beigin, head
of the Palestine "Freedom Party,"
was made by signators of a pub-
lic letter including Prof. Albert
Einstein, Prof. Sidney Hook, Prof.
Zellig S. Harris, Dr. Hannah
Arendt and Louis P. Rocker.
The Beigin party was termed
"a fascist party for whom ter-
rorism (against Jews, Arabs, and
British), lying and misrepresent-
ation are means, and a "Leader
State" is the goal."
"Within the Jewish community
they have preached an admixture
of ultra-nationalism, religious
mysticism, and racial superior-
ity," the statement said. "Like
other fascist parties, they have
been used to break strikes, and
have themselves pressed for the
destruction of free trade unions."
A plea was made that the truth
about Beigin and the dangers to
Israel from support to Beigin, be
made known in this country.

When Godfrey was summoned to the boss' office four hours later,

him, "They tell me you were a riot this morning, Arthur. .That's the
