Family Club Carries Name of Hamtramck LeaderHyman Rivkin Eighty direct descendants of Hyman (Chaim) Rivkin, who helped create a Jewish atmos- phere in a section of Hamtramck, are now meeting regularly as the Rivkin Family Club. Rivkin, who came to Detroit from Linwood, Mich., built a syn- agogue in Hamtramck where he taught Hebrew to young boys of the community with the hope that the synagogue, which bore his name, would survive. Although the Jewish residents all have left that area, and the synagogue is no more, Rivkin's name has been perpetuated through the Rivkin Family Club, organized this fall. Newly-elected officers of the Rivkin Family Club are: Mal- colm L. Rivkin, president; Isa- dore A. Berger, Mrs. Aaron Samuels, vice presidents; Benja- min Jaffe, treasurer; William Co- hen, program chairman, and Mrs. Harry Starler and Mrs. Barnett Dickman, secretaries.
