Offers New Radio Series

The Jewish Community Coun-
cil announces a new series of
radio programs entitled "Lest We
Forget—Stories to Remember,"
on station WXYZ at 4 p.m. Tues-
days and Thursdays.
The series includes stories
which appeared in national mag-
azines, and is performed by radio
stars Geraldine Fitzgerald, Ralph
Bellamy, Melvyn Douglas, Bain-
bi Lynn, Raymond Massey and
others.
Local sponsor of the programs
is the Coordinating Council on
Human Relations of the Mayor's
Interracial Committee. The Jew-
ish Community Council is one
of its 42 affiliated organizations.
The series was prepared by the
Institute for American Democ-
racy which is associated with the
Anti-Defamation League of "Bnai
Brith.

Samuel L. Weller Establish6 Wayne
Negro Scholarships on 50th Birthday

Marking his 50th. .birthday,
which he observed on Nov. 27,
Samuel L. Weller, senior partner
in the law firm of Weller, Sum-
mer & Feder, announces ;the es-
tablishment of a scholarship fund
in the amount of $5,000, for nine
four-year scholarships to be avail-
able at Wayne University to
Negro graduates. from Detroit
high schools.
This Samuel L Weller Schol-
arship Fund will be administered
by Dr. David D. Henry, president
of. Wayne University.
Three scholarships will be
awarded each year for three suc-
cessive years, commencing with
the 1949 fall school term. The
scholarships will cover tuition for
four years for each -of the stu-
dents selected. Good - character,
citizenship, leadership potential-
ities, evidence of good academic
promise and financial need will
be considered in awarding the
scholarships.:

of Henry Abramovitz for Cali-
fornia will take place at the
meeting of delegates to the Jew-
ish Community Council at 8:15
p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Temple
Beth El, Aaron Droock, Council
president, announced. The new
member will serve until 1951.
Delegates will be brought up
to date on activities of the Coun-
cil in the fields of community
relations, internal relations and
cultural work. The council com-
mittees have undertaken new
projects such as the handling of
real estate problems affecting
Jews, cooperation with the Jew-
ish Community Center in deal-
